What a great day to be on the water!
It started off breezy this morning, and we had Tom, Craig, Ed, and Bill aboard for an open boat toggin' trip. What was breezy at the marina turned into windy at the mouth of the inlet, and the seas were ugly to match! We plowed our way through some serious slop, and anchored on the first(and only) piece we would fish for tog. With a stiff wind and big seas, we had a tough time managing to stay over the most productive piece of the structure. We managed one keeper and a few missed hook-ups during our short time over the wreck. We pulled anchor, and decided to head in before conditions deteriorated any further. On our way back, the wind and seas calmed a bit off the beach, and we decided to give the rips a shot! Well, the decision paid off, and we had bass on immediately! For the next couple hours, the guys had great action, and we didn't go one drift without boating a bass! They kept their limit of slot fish, and used up a few bonus tags on 'tweeners! Great job, guys!
On our return to the dock, the wind increased quite a bit, and I was debating whether to run our afternoon charter. Well, with hopes that conditions would improve when the tide switched, we headed out with Jim Brown and his private charter. Jim, Tom, Barn, and Steve were ready to give them their best shot! It didn't take long to have a hook-up. We arrived with very little tide running, but nonetheless had FIVE HOOK-UPS on our first drift! We boated all of these fish, and for the rest of their four hour charter, the guys BAILED 'em, catching fish on every drift with many multiple hook-ups. We kept our limit of slot fish, released lots of fish, including plenty of 'tweeners. We also tagged one 31" fish for the box. EXCELLENT JOB, guys!
We are really looking forward to tomorrow, as conditions are supposed to be beautiful!
