View Full Version : UNBELIEVEABLE FISHING! - ADAM BOMB 12/19

Exceptional fishing does not adequately describe today! It was simply unbelieveable fishing, and great weather to boot!

The fog was thick as pea soup early this morning. We were scheduled to leave the dock at 9AM.

Driving to the boat, the fog lifted about two miles North of the marina, and made way for an absolutely picture perfect December morning. The winds were blowing a light southerly, and the morning air temperature was chilly, but far from cold!

We loaded up the ADAM BOMB II, and headed out for a morning of striper fishing with the Chuck Savage private charter. Chuck, Joe, Sean, and Joe were ready for some action! Joe C. was also out for some blood!

We cleared the inlet and made our way to the rips. The seas were calm, and conditions were great! It didn't take long for the first hook-up of the day. About three minutes into the trip on the first drift, we had a TRIPLE HOOK-UP! It didn't stop there, as within the next three drifts we had already had TEN bass in the boat! During the first few drifts, we had a lot of smaller bass, and most went back to swim another day except for a few slots that we tossed in the box.

The fish bit sporadically during the first hour or so of the flood, but after making a short move, the action turned on big time! We were into fish on every single drift, with multiple hook-ups the rule!

Here's two out of four rods bent on this drift(other two on other side!)!

Joe boated this 'tweener on the opposite side of the boat...

The action continued at a great pace, but the fish did eventually slow down at that particular spot. We made another move, back to where we started, and on the first drift Joe hooked up...then Sean hooked up...then the other Joe hooked up...then Chuck hooked up! FOUR BANGER! This action continued at a feverish pace with everyone ROPING stripers on every drift.

The biggest fish at this spot...a 33" 'tweener...

After catching fish hand over fist at this spot, we made another move, and began WAILING on the bass again!

We returned around 2pm, with our limit of slot fish, and the boys elected to release their 'tweeners, and not use any bonus tags! It was a GREAT day on the water, and a fanastic time was had by all aboard. Hopefully, tomorrow's weather won't put them off, and we'll be back at 'em on Tuesday. I am looking forward to it!

Way to go Adam! I wish we didn't pull the boat now. Glad to see the fish are still stacked up in the rips!

Great Job Capt. Sorry that I am unable to be on the water anymore but I am sure the disappointment will be all worth it! I would have really loved to see triple digits in the boat, I have yet to be on one of those trips! Don't worry, it will all even out when I catch my 50lber before you :D
Great Job out there! Keep safe and warm!

Great job Adam, saw you bailing em. I was on the Stalker bailing em next to you. Everytime I looked over Joe C. was hooked up. Wish everyday was like today.

Adam, the fishing today was unbelievable. Both the Bomb and the Stalker crushed'em. You and Skip make fishing the rips seem easy. Can't wait till the Spring! That little rogue wave caught you by surprise today, to busy bailing fish to notice.

Adam,
I've fished with a lot of captains, none of who worked as hard as you did. The fishing was incredible, an all time day. Thanks for a very memorable day.

Hey guys! Thanks for the posts!

Paul, they are stacked! They should be there for a bit. I don't think one day of cold, windy weather will move them out. It's supposed to rebound nicely tomorrow and the next day or so.

Boss, don't worry, you'll be back at 'em soon! The disappointment of not going now will be very worth it come May! I can't wait to see the bucktailin' queen in action again. ;)

Awesome job, Smellinfishy! You guys killed 'em, too! Awesome job. Frankie called me to let me know how sore his arms were. I think he's spent for the rest of the year! :D

Hightides, working hard down there is the name of the game. You guys did a great job of catching 'em! That little swell made Joe C. and I do a little dance in the bow! It's even more fun when you're hooked up!

Tomahawk, it was an awesome day, and you guys did a great job of fishing hard. Thanks for the kind words! It was a pleasure having you and the crew aboard. You guys are great to fish with, and I hope to do it again soon! Thanks again!

They should stick around for a while. I went out off Sandy Hook this weekend and had the same results as you Adam. Brid play as far as the eye could see. We had bass slamming large Atlantic Blueback Herring and Peanut Bunker. And we were all by ourselves. Not one boat within 5 miles.

We got them all on AVA 27's and a few on Storm Shads. AVA's worked best. One of the 26" bass I cleaned had a 12" Herring in it's gut.

We were supposed to go togging so we left them biting and moved onto the tog grounds. It was a slow pick there but put 8 keepers in the box.

I will you Cape Boys posted on what going on up here.

Phenomenal is all I can say, Adam. I have to second TOMAHAWK's comments; I've never seen a Capt. work as hard as you to ensure that all of the customers leave with a smile. It was, by all accounts, a truly memorable day on the water for all of us and a real tribute to your skills as a Capt. in putting us on the fish. Good weather, good friends, good Capt. and GREAT fishing...just doesn't get any better than that! Thanks for the memory...can't wait 'til the Spring.

Chuck, thanks for fishing with us, and the very kind words in your post. I had an exceptional time fishing with you guys. You guys certainly were a great bunch to fish with, and did a tremendous job of fishing hard. I am looking forward to fishing with you again in the spring! I'll be remembering our day in the rips yesterday for the rest of my life!

Adam, Glad to see you had a great day but could you do us all a favor and use TOMAHAWK for bait next time. You might not catch as many fish but there would be one less Eagles hater in the world.

Adam,

I thought Saturday was great but yesterday must have been even better. Wish I was there.

Nice seeing you again. Keep up the good work.

Eagle1, Joe was a really good fisherman, but had a bit of a disdain for the Eagles! He's still alright in my book, though! :D

Steve, it was exceptional, but Saturday was right up there, believe me! The last few days have been off the charts for fishing quality. I can only hope that it keeps up for the rest of the month and maybe even the beginning of the new year!

My prediction holds. Invite an Eagle to your Super Bowl Party. He won't be busy that day.
