Started on the outgoing this morning and had 21 landed with many misses as well. 5 of the 21 were keepers going to 31"s. Moved to another spot for the incoming tide and landed 18 more with many misses as well. 8 of the 18 were keepers going up to 35"s. Ran out of bait and left them biting.
Also had 2@30"s from the river, pre-dawn.
All for now, must sleep!

AWESOME! Hope to get out on Sat, which may be my last trip. Did you get them on clams?

All fish on clams with the exception of the two from the river, plugs. BTW, the clams were like absolute roadkill, left them with minimal care in the cooler for 5 days .

With some colder weather I think it will really turn on.
Bob, what color truck these days. I've been out in Holgate every weekend, heading out again Sunday. (Red Pathfinder these days) Emmy says Hi, he no longer is using the Green Bronco, and he has twins on the way. His equipment will be for sale along with his truck soon.
Anyway, I haven't seen you since Hatteras when we had that crazy house with all of the drinking going on. We are thinking of taking a run in January for some Stripers in Oregon Inlet.

I have bushel on order to get me through Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully I will run out of bait as well:D.

I am going to do some plugging tonight and clam on Friday. I was stretching a bushell for two days or so depending on the fish. Yesterday there were some better fish for me but there were also many very small fish as well. I usually like to run a big circle hook with the whole clam but I was missing some of the fish. When I went down to a smaller j-hook and just the meat of the clam it was night and day. No hit and run for the fish either, they would just sit and pick at it. Hopefully when the weather turns and the ocean cooperates it should "pick" back up and they will stop feeding like sissy's.

Last time out I had a few quick hit and gone type bytes. I suspect smaller fish that were grabbing the bait instead of inhailing it. Which is fine with me, if he isn't 28 or better, I rather he not get the hook in his mouth. Hope the shorts to keeper ratio improves for the weekend. The forecast looks good, I like a a little NW wind.

Just walked in from pluggin. Crazy fog but fishable. Hit the outgoing went one hour without a tap and BANG, 27lber. That was it for two and a half more hours, it came from the river, way up river!
Next stop Friday 11/17 LE inlet.
Hey Lucky John, I know what you mean about the small ones, I have spoons bigger than a few I caught:rolleyes:.

I hope that flash of weekday fish in October wasn't it for the big inshore run of decent size fish, and now it's schoolie season from here on out. I am going to give the clams one last big shot this weekend, and then start togging, jigging, plugging, and trolling. Not spending bait money for schoolies.

Heading out tomorrow for the usual. My feelings are it's far from over for "better" size fish in the LE. I can remember last year being out much later and much colder getting nice fish. It's just a bad patch right now and it will turn around.........I hope..............
Please stand by........................
