Took the day off on Tuesday. Fished from Corsens down to Herfords and hit all the lumps / holes we could find out front. Trolled, jigged and dragged bait. Total for the day 3- doggies. Nice fishable day but the fish were not cooperating. No bait or birds. I guess it was a day for " paying your dues"

Get the bucktails and jigs ready for bird chasing next month my friend. It will turn on soon! I was thinking...what if we anchored up on a lump off the beach and chunked bunker like we do in the bay??? Think we would catch???

I also took tuesday off. Left T.I. about 8:30, went to the peacock lump TARGETING BLUES..caught a few nice blues 8-9 lbs. and one slot striper. All fish are swimming today.
Not very active anywhere, we also jigged behind the breakers of T.I. FOR STRIPERS, but no takers, good time though.

Mako,
Not sure we have the same concentration of bass that they have in the bay, but that has crossed my mind too.

Three hours behind Ventnor today without a touch; on fresh clams. The bite really appeared to be off today. You're not alone.

Mako19-
We did that a few years ago behind the breakers at TI in late December. I remember getting to the boat and it was a 11 degrees out and a nice sheen of ice on the boat. Anchored up by first light, had the slick going and started catching. We stayed on the water all day till sunset - one of my favorite "sea scape" pictures was taken of the cotton candy sky looking toward Avalon. It is framed on my desk. Point is, we were successful and the only boat out all day.
If I remember, we were using bunker and whole surf clams. But maybe my brother will chime in if he sees this thread.

You have got to love that!!! Do you recal the size of the fish? Just curious. There is also a nice spot in the north channel tight to the south marsh that is about 15 feet deep. We had fish there chumming clams in the spring. May be worth a shot if nothing is happening out front.
For all the discouraged guys to the north have no fear. Once December hits and the rips get colder and the bay bite slows down the southern fleet will start heading north to follow the bird play. I remember one day leaving TI in the MAKO19 and specifically headed to the rips. Needless to say we never made it there that day because we found the birds tied up the bucktails and started whaling the bass good! This was of course before we had a boat in Cape May and had to make the long haul to the rips. If I am not mistaken I remember reading a few of Adam's reports from last year where they hammered them in the bird play up north.
The best areas we have found are tight to the beach from Herefords to Corsons.

Ya mo be there! Can't wait to hit the boat in the early a.m and head North out of the inlet in search of birds of blobs! Super fun way to fish!

I got a report they were hitting trolled crippled herrings yesterday just outside Townsend's. No mad blitz or huge bass but the guy limited out.
Partnership (Tom) would you please email me your phone number. I fried my cell phone w/ salt water striper fishing last Monday. Thanks!
