Broke the inlet at at about 5:15 yesterday with the game plan of doing a mixed striper/wreck trip. Ran to a couple of hills out front at day break and found a couple of schools of feeding bass& blues. Landed about eight bass up to about 36", four or five big blues and as many spiny dogs on the bottom that you could reel in. We released all of the bass knowing that we planned on fishing for tog at the cpm reef. Anchored up with the fog bank just starting to roll in. The tog were munching but my wreck anchor some how busted off!!!!! We managed about nine keepers and about 20 throwbacks in an hour or so. We also put four or five bergalls in the live-well for the rips. Ran with three sets of eyes on the water and radar in thick fog. Hit overfalls for about 1½ hours and landed one 28" on a bergall and pulled the hook on five more (AHHHH!!!) before heading home.

Just as a side note. I have caught bass in the rips on live spot, ling (awsome bait), bunker, croakers, and lots of other fish that i've caught in the cast net but this was the first time I've ever used bergalls. They are hardy!!! One of the bergalls was hooked up on multiple bass and is still alive in my bait pen.

2007 striper season prices : spot $3.50 - bergalls $7.00

What's a Bergall anyways? First it was Bernie at the beach and then you get married and now it is Bernie the Bergall man from now. Will Jay's boat reach the Washington Canyon if so put away the striper gear and follow us out next week or over Thanksgivng. Is Chris coming north over the holidays.
PS: $7.00 is a bargin for the Bergalls that do not have spots on them. Big Slob Bluefin candy. Way better than live squid. Just kidding and I am sure Capt Bernie is also.

Dorset – The 2007 prices ARE A JOKE you knucklehead. I am not a marina nor do I sell spot or any other kind of bait.

John – Congrats on a great trip the Washington. Man I wish I was on board for that one. The Topaz has the range but Jay has been MIA for a while. He has a lot going on with his kids and work and hasn’t been able to get down to use the boat. Chris is heading south for the holidays and for the first time in years he won’t be hooked into a striper on turkey day. Good luck.

Thanks again for the trip on monday. It was nice fishing together again. Looks like this week is going to blow out. If you get a chance email me the pictures (Striper40@hotmail.com). When I cleaned those fish only one had something in its belly. Looked like a tinker mackeral or perhaps a northern sennet  . Talk to you later
