Worked around the weatherman today as well as some real iffy actual weather, and along with top angler John (offshore bug) Rogers managed to stick a hook in untold numbers of striped Bass on the Susquehanna Flats. Held off on early departure to see what the rain/wind would do. Finally launched at 9:00 a.m. to fog and drizzle. Pulled up to our first drift and John lands a decent fish immediately, then another....and then nothing. Thought we had something going on but no-no. Went shallow for some topwater attempts, nothing doing either. Spent three hours with no more hookups to show when it started to BLOW. Then drizzle and get really dark. Didn't give up but ran to a new hole just after lunch and VIOLA! We started hittin' em pretty good. Waded our way through some small ones when John got tangled up with this one:

The action only got better and the weather only got nicer. Wind died, sun came out, and the fish went NUTS! We did our best to keep up with them. We jigged, we hookset, we photo'ed, we released, we changed soft plastics, we tried different colors, and our arms got tired. I stopped to take a break and call in my buddy Gerald, aka "bloodthirstyfishkiller". He shows up and tosses a cast or two then BLAM! He's tight to a 30 lber.

We stayed right on them for FOUR SOLID HOURS of absolutely insane fish catching freakshow. John had 6 large, including this one:

There is no way we coulda counted how many we caught and released. No way I can properly convey just how out of control the bite was. Have you ever caught over 100 fish in one day? On ten pound test, in shallow water, on really light rods, and some of those fish were over 20 lbs?! Just one awesome day that won't soon be forgotten. One of those days that you live for. John Rogers you are one lucky S.O.B. to have booked this particular day and have it turn out to be THE DAY of this years Flats season. Glad I could be a small part of it.
