Congrats to Gavitt, those guys catch BIG fish everywhere. Congrats to Chilly, because as he told anyone that would listen Saturday night, he is the number one Fountain boat in the northeast and finished 3rd in the overall. Not to shabby for a bunch of drunks... :D I guess we ought to thank the taxi cab driver you paid to find your truck in the bar lot too...

Jerseyan captures third with big bass

Harry Swanson of Union Beach took third place with a 28.97-pound bass from his Cheap Shot in last weekend's final American Striper Association Tournament of the year that was held out of Hampton, Va. Rick Nunn of Hillsborough was fourth on Happy Daze with a 28.21-pounder.

While the local boats were trolling, Swanson brought eels down and had good action at the sunken concrete ships that form a breakwater in Kiptopeke, where the ferry used to dock before the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel was constructed. The Cheap Shot crew caught eight bass of more than 20 pounds, and their largest jumped the boat from 12th to sixth in the yearly standings. Bill Gavitt from Rhode Island won the contest with a 39.63-pound striper and also became ASA Angler of the Year.
