My son and I go on a father son trip every year as soon as he is out of school. For the last 6 years we have been going to a PA lake that has stripers and we usually catch a few but it's never that great. this spring we did pretty good in the Raritan and we had a good time. So I am looking for a place to stay for a couple nights close to the water. I guess around AH would be the best. Somewhere that I can keep my boat on the trailer in the parking lot.

There are a number of motels on RT.36 just outside of Atantic Highlands. Just do a Google search to locate one. These places are not on the water but convenient to marinas.

There is a Best Western in Hazlet that used to be named the Wellesley Inn. Most of my customers stay there. This is near the junctions of 35 & 36. The cost is high like 100-135 bucks. There is a Red Roof Inn in Edison off of 287 that is 15 minutes from The back of the bay like Perth Amboy, Keyport etc... Probably 30 minutes from Ahighlands. There is also the Parkway Motel with a big lot right off 35south in Sayreville. Not the nicest of places but for 55-60 bucks, you get what you pay for. Big lot in the middle of the motel. You can keep your eyes on the boat at all times.
It is tough out that way but it all depends on how much you want to spend.
Good Luck

there's a holiday inn in Hazlet Rt. 35 as well, not far from the Wellesley Inn.
Recently renovated, the restaurant/conf rooms look good, though I haven't stayed there.
