Hey guys,
What a day on the water!
Jay, Pat, Chris, Leon, Rich, and Ed were aboard, and fishing was GREAT!
With a Northeast wind blowing about 15 knots, we ventured out to try for some early morning togging. The bite on the first stop was tough, with a few small fish, a couple keepers, and lots of pesky bergalls. We quickly picked up and made a move, and the bite was real good on nice blackfish! Fishing there for just over an hour, we pounded the fish with a really nice mess of keepers to 9lbs with a good # of 3lb to 5lb fish. As it was about mid tide, we pulled the hook and made a run to the rips. On the way, JACKPOT as we found a big birdplay with BIG bluefish and bass pounding herring and we proceeded to pound the big blues and bass for a while with metal and bucktails. Great fishing! We had them on top and deep. After a bit of that, we finished out our run to the rips...first drift...triple header! Second drift...triple header! We had them real good until a ~40ft boat blasted right up the rip where the bite was best. Soooo...we made a move and...triple header! The bite continued good 'till the end of the tide.
After a great days fishing, we had just about 30 nice blackfish in the box, a bunch of big blues in the 10lb range, and we also had 65 stripers to 34"! What a day!
Thanks guys and can't wait until next time!
