We snuck out both days for a few hours of chasing birds. On Monday there were birds right in the inlet but the fish were small. We ran to 30ft of water off Ventnor and found a small flock of birds. We took 3 keepers and tossed a few shorts back. The action didn't last too long but we had meat for dinner and considered it a good day.
Today (Tues 12/12) we were clearing the inlet when a generous guy announced on CH68 that there were lots of bass off the Cuma Lumps. We found the small fleet and took 3 nice fish and tossed back about 8 more that were between 20 and 26 inches. This is the kind of fishing I've been waiting for. One more week before I pull the boat and the weather reports look fishable. Finally some good karma. All fish were on 5/8 oz bucktails with a white rubber worm fished slow and deep. Crippled Herring didn't work for me.
