Hey, any recommendations on some kind of bait catcher to just leave in water at a dock? I saw some guys have some tied to a cleat at their dock and just left in the water through the week. Any suggestions?
thanks

Did you read the thread about people stealing stuff from marinas? If you have your own private dock leaving bait caged up in the water at dockside is alright but if you dock at a marina, watch out people have been stealing eels, rods, equipment etc..... Don't know about cantiners to keep live bait in, you might want to ask a bait store. Just thought I'd give you a heads up about leaving bait at dock side unattended.

INSTEAD OF SPENDING ALOT OF CASH ON A BAIT PEN THIS IS WHAT I DID AND WORKS GREAT AND IS CHEAP TO MAKE - ABOUT 5 MINUTES-
GO TO THE HARDWARE STORE OR HOME DEPOT AND BUY A PLASTIC TRASH CAN WITH A LID, DRILL ABUNCH OF HOLES IN IT FROM TOP TO BOTTOM INCLUDING THE LID,GET A BUNGIE CORD AND BUNGIE THE LID CLOSED, TIE A ROPE TO IT AND TO THE DOCK OR YOUR BOAT CLEET AND SUBMERGE, WORKS GREAT!!

animosity, do u put anything in the trash can to attract the fish or basically just let them swim in, and they dont figure out to swim out like a crab trap? I like that idea since its so cheap! saves money for gas and buying lures and so. Plus prolly wouldnt piss ya off too bad if people steal your fish, even though that blows... but you can always tie it your front cleat and hope one of those thief bastads dont actually go into your boat....btw are they breaking locks on the cabins and stealing stuff from inside as well?

The only thing you will catch at the dock with a trap will be killies for fluke fishing.

you can keep eels and spot for a good week or so in a bait pen. just when yo uleave it at a marina tie it to your front cleat no one will know it is there! also you can catch eels in a trap, but is really hard. and you cant catch spot either, the only thing you could catch at your marina would be killies for fluke.
