Barnegat Inlet Report

Headed out to the inlet yesterday afternoon. Upon arriving saw plenty of bird action to the north and gave it a shot along IBSP.......nothing but bluefish. Stuck around until just after dark and the end of the outgoing and drifted the north jetty casting storm shads and managed one short bass around 23".

i have been trolling bunker spoons and 25+ bombers around those birds just north of the inlet. picked up some big blues today and a few bass (26 in.)over the weekend. last week the storms worked real well on the north jetty with fish up to 28 inches although most around 22. we use the radio ch-68.

I heard they were not taking eels inside.... but they were hitting on black bombers cast from anchored boats at night.

We trolled north out of the inlet yesterday also, Big Blues...one bass at 31 inches, back he went.

Did I mention I hate bluefish !

5:30 last night in Double Creek on eels: 35", 37", 30" and then some. One other boat was there, saw him hook up twice. Good bite on the outgoing. Was anchored up by the dike for a spell and got nothing / saw nothing.

Ifished Tuesday from Barnegat N to Lavellette.
35'-70'. Jigging,trolling bunker spoons and dead-
sticking. All Baaalooofffish!!! AAAAHHHH!!!

last couple of days trolled from North Jetty to Ferris wheel. Knocked the hell out of the blues on Monday. Yesterday managed to jig 20, 22 bass out of blitz. but other than that nothing.

All fish are far north and far south.

going out tomorrow morning. looking for birds and maybe doing some trolling. anyone know of action outside the inlet. fished last thurs and had huge pods of birds wth big blues and bass under them. also got a few shorts in inlet and one back in bay on eels

Haven't been out of Barnegat lately but have been fishing south out of Manasquan. Plenty of Bird action and have been as far down as Chadwick Beach this week. PIcked some bass under the blues, mostly shorts with an occasional slot mixed in, had one just over 34" yesterday. All the bass have been on AVAs and Krocs in the bottom 3rd of the water column with a slow retrieve.

I am sure you will hit something further south but figured I would let you know.

had 8 to 30" on spots in two hours fishing thursday and 11 to 32" on spots in two hours of fishing friday morning. had some bluefish on jigs out front when it wasn't blowing.
