Just wanted to know where you guys are getting your spots and for how much? I have been hearing reports that they are $3.50 a spot.

Try Hands, they're listed in the index! Good luck!

1 spot = 1 striper...pay the extra .50 cents if you want to have the best chance of catching fish. What do you get for NOT paying $3.50 is a possible long boring day with only a slimey towel to show for your hard work. If you're fishing the rips not having spot is the equvilant of fishing the bay and not having fresh bunker. Bring all the weapons you can!

Thanks for the replys. Are you guys all paying $3.50? I know both places quite well but I refuse to pay $3.50 per spot when I am catching them on 50 cent eels. I have fished the rips on a regular basis for years now and have never felt like I needed spot. I feel I catch just as many fish as the boats I know using spot. I have, in many cases, caught multiple striper on the same eel and have to believe that you would have trouble doing that with a live spot (maybe I am wrong). Most people say 1 spot = 1 striper and I say 1 eel may equal many striper. Thanks again for the thoughts.

The difference is you may drag that eel around awhile before you get your striper. It won't take long with a spot.

We did great today in the rips with white bucktails and green twisty tails. They liked them better than eels.

IF YOU ARE CATCHING SO MANY WITH EELS WHY BOTHER ASKING ABOUT SPOTS, JUST KEEP DRAGGING THAT SLIMMY SNAKE AND HAVE AT IT. REALLY NOT BEING RUDE JUST CURIOUS, ME HECK I LOVE TO CHUNK THE BAY, BUT JUST CURIOUS..

Vdawg, You have to buy in bulk. A buddy of mine and myself bought 300 eels for $150. Yes, much better then the tackle shops.

Snake Eyes, just curious about peoples opinions and ideas with spots. No one yet has mentioned how much they are paying. I am continuing to drag eels until the bite turns off and I see spots working.

Thanks again for the input

JUST HAPPEN TO BE FISHING THE RIPS LAST SUNDAY, WITH EELS, HAD ALOT OF TROUBLE KEEPING WEEDS OFF THEM ,HOWEVER WATCHED A CHARTER BOAT JUST BAIL THEM IN WITH SPOTS, I MEAN REALLY ONE AFTER ANOTHER, AND NOT TOO MUCH ACTION ON EELS FOR OTHERS BY THE SOUND OF THE RADIO, KEEP AT IT, GOOD LUCK, DAVE...
