What part of the state do you fish? I was out in the ocean this morning at Monmouth Beach at sunrise until abot 9:30. I was hoping to find some birds working but didn't see anything and wound up with nothing. I went three times in the last 2 weeks there and landed close to 25 stripers with 6 being keeper size. If you plan on doing any fishing in the northern half of the state let me know!! The most important thing about this sport is having the proper gear and clothing. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!

The more the merrier.. Youl find that yak fisherman never have a problem with other yak fisherman, We all share info and spots. I have plenty of extra equipment if someone wants to tag along that doesnt have their own gear.

Striper season opens March 1, not March 21. You can still fish the back all year long for other species, though. Only stripers are off-limits in Jan and Feb. This winter so far, yak fishing hasn't been out of the question. The water is still in the 50's.

And what species would those be if Im trolling a stretch around a bridge at night behind my yak.

You could use a fly rod and target sea herring and throw back any bass that might hit the fly used for the sea herring. Using a stretch is stretching it a bit.:D

You're fishing for specks or redfish...

Heck, this winter, anything is possible!! They're still catching specks now.
