Did you try moving around? Usually if you don't get a hit or mark fish on the sounder going through the rip there is nothing there and you should waste no more time fishing it. Also how was your water quality? You should of had clean water with an outgoing tide starting around 11:00 am so I don't think that was your problem. Probably just needed to do some moving around. You'll get 'em next time.

Mako19,
You are right about your advice to TTuna but lately it seems the water has been dirty on the outgoing. I think it's due to the full moon last week.
The incoming has the cleaner water and the most action but as we all know, that will change and they will start hitting on the outgoing instead.

Thanks for the tips guys. I am fairly new at the rips routine. We did move from the middle to inshore to further out. Marked fish most of the time. Guest they had lock jaw for my bucktails...any other tips would be appreicated. Planning to go out this Friday, what would be the best time for tide condtions?

Well your tides are gonna look something like this:
High-2:33 am
Low-8:45 am
High-2:43 pm
Low-8:46 pm
I'm not sure what time your planning on leaving but I am going to assume you are a trailer guy and will be launching in Cape May. If this is the case it all depends on how early you can get out to catch some of that outgoing but that may be tough as you will need some light at the ramp then time to run out...it may be tight. Also, if the current forecast holds up (SW wind) it won't even be worth fishing it until the incoming when you have wind with the tide.
If it were me I would set it up to be fishing by 9:45 am when that incoming really starts cranking. Depending on the sea conditions and your boat (there calling for SW 10-15, 3-5' and 2' in close) will gauge on where you can start but I would look around Overfalls first then work your way in closer to the beach as the day goes on (i.e. try somers next, then outer Prissy work your way in Prissy then finish the day at Eph shoal if needed). Hopefully you find fish before you have to do all that moving but that would be my game plan. When you get to your spot say you pull up to Overfalls take a peek around and pick the rip that looks just right. You will know it when you see it. Perfectly clam water before it then a real nice rip, trust me you will know. Some better rip lines we found this season that were holding actually had a cove shape to them, you will know when you see it. Drift across and keep an eye on the sounder when you just get into the white water look for red on the back side of the hill. If no red and no hits slide down a little on your next drift.
That's all there is to it! Good luck and we all will be looking forward to reading your WE KILLED 'EM report.

Nahh man I seriously hope the guy slams them with all the new tactics he has under his belt now. If he does I may have to write another article for the Fisherman Magazine.
Good luck Tommy hope you kill em to bub! Are you still in the water or trailering?

Mako19, thanks for all the great info. I will give it my best shot,,Friday and maybe Sat. I keep my boat is Sea Isle and see you are from there. I have a trailer too which I just may use and put in at Cape May. I have a 21' Seafox CC. If you are in SIC maybe you might want to join me?

I am in Sea Isle summers only but I am just under an hour drive away and could come down to fish with you. However, this weekend is a no go. I'm taking my lady to Baltimore, MD for the weekend, doin the aquarium thing and all that. If you are fishing year round weather depending I will jump on with you not this weekend but next. Let me know and good luck! ;)
