I'm planning a trip (long drive) to do some surf fishing Monday night into Tuesday. I was wondering if it would be worth it to bring my baitwell and get some of these to surf fish.

I tried it on Friday for an hour or so. NO hits during the late afternoon. The spots lived for a few casts out. But I think you need to get it pretty far out and have it sit. The spot will die if it's left on the surf and pounding (as opposed to an eel). Good luck.

Back when the big trout were around live spot was the bait of choice in Delaware. WE fished them at night and they worked great. Never caught a striper but lots of blues,sharks and skates in addition to trout (many over 10lbs. I wouldn't hesitate to try them for stripers but it is a lot cheaper to catch your own.
