MOD SQUAD, Matt Unsworth & his daughter Ann caught the big fish. Mary from Off the Hook bait & tackle has a picture of the winning fish. 52.4 lbs!
Congrats to Matt & Ann!!
Here's Ann's post from another site.
Fished the ASA tournament this weekend! We caught 9 fish yesterday and the biggest was 21 pounds! Today we fished with Danny Archibald a.k.a."Jason". We fished the 60 ft. Slough and got a few 20-25 pounders and a 33 pounder that Danny caught! At the turn of the tides we moved to the "Secret Squirrel Spot" with the special bait from Chuck at Off the Hook (compliments of "Jake") We ended up with a 52.4 pound fish! We won 1st place and won a Mercury 200hp motor, and I won Junior Angler. Now daddy has to get me a boat to go with the motor! Mary will post pictures!

Hey Paul, meant to mail the fotos to you last night but Ann insisted we close up and go celebrate last night! We got a phone call from Ann saying they had a big one in the cooler so I immediately got my trusty camera, jumped in the truck and met them @ the weigh-ins.
I got there just in time as they were pulling up and couldn't believe my eyes when they opened that cooler! Matt stood behind the scales during the weigh in (not wanting to see what it read) and Ann stood their reading while the scale just kept counting up 45, 47, 50, 51 . . . 52.4!!! What a moment!
Congrats to Team Mod Squad!!!!
Off to the scales!

Wanted to get confirmation from ASA's website but not up yet.
From what we saw yesterday I believe the final was
1st Place: Team Mod Squad, Matt Unsworth 52.4 lbs
2nd Place: Allure, Bill Gavit 50 lbs
3rd Place: Team Ugly Mug, Bob Ransom 43 lbs.
Ann also took the Jr. Angler category and I think the Lady Angler division was taken by Allure.
(once again not completely sure on final #s)
Congratulations to everyone in the tournament!!

WOW what a day. I have never seen a striper as big as the one we weighed today, let alone had one on the end of my line.
Well it all came together today, right place, right time, right bait, right crew, right equipment, right weather, right plan, right technique & alot of luck. Thanks to all who had a big part in our success yesterday (Matthew(my son), Timmy, Mary, Chuck, "Jake", did I mention luck?, & whoever else I am forgetting).
As Ann mentioned above we had 2 great days of fishing. I had 3 great days of fishing.
Friday:
Spent the day with my 8 year old son Matthew who missed school with a case of striper fever. He & I rounded up bait, rigged equipment, made some repairs to the boat & got to fish for a couple hours of the afternoon. We caught a few fish, missed a lot of fish & had a great time. He is going to be a good fisherman very soon.
Saturday:
Had the crew of Ann(my #1 fishing partner) & I at the dock at 5am ready to roll. We made a long run up the bay & had a good day with lots of fish but only up to 21.5 lbs. We went 9 for about 13 & had on a couple of fish that seemed decent but never got a visual.
Made it to the scales for ASA & No Bones knowing we were not in the hunt. You have to love the tournament atmosphere. Everyone was so great to Ann & I, & treated all the entrants as if they had the winning fish.
After cleaning up we ran over to the Bayview for the party. Great job Fred & all.
Congrats to all the No bones winners with lots of big fish.
Sunday:
For the last day we had the pleasure of adding Danny Archibald to the team. I had never fished with Danny but I found out in a hurry that he is a very accomplished fisherman. It is obvious this kid has spent alot time on the water with some very good fishermen.
Well the forcast was for some wind, & with an early weigh-in we decide not to run to far.
We fished the incoming tide with 4 bites, the biggest being Danny's 33 pounder. On the change we made a move to a spot I had always wanted to fish but had never tried. Well we get there & 2 boats already had it covered. Since the tide had not yet swung we moved a little further south & found a good looking edge to set up on.
All lines out & 10 minutes later fish on. About an hour into a nice bite one of the rods goes off, screaming drag under the boat. As Ann is clearing rods for Danny one of the long rods goes off. By now we see the first fish, a big blue at the side of the boat & we assume the second fish is also a blue. Two minutes later we see a big tail slap the surface about 50 yard behind the boat & realize this is a big striper. The kids did an awsome job clearing rods, moving gear & making sure I didn't trip over anything. Now all I have to do is not mess this up. The fish came to the boat after about ten minutes got within 2 feet of netting range & surged off again. Two minutes later the fish was in the net. We carefully lifted the fish into the boat. When it hit the deck my daughter heard my curse for the first time for a fish caught instead of a fish lost. Ann & Danny should be very proud, they did as good a job with that fish as anyone I have ever fished with.
Pulled anchor & headed for the scales. I never measure or weighed the fish we just headed in.
Since that fish hit the deck I have had this stupid grin on my face which is starting to annoy my wife. Oh well.

Matt - I meant to introduce myself at the No Bones dinner after but was busy talking and eating (two of my specialties).
I had the Bruins hat on and was sitting with Biggestjack.
Congrats and I think even better than the win, is the fact your #1 fishing partner is your daughter Ann.
I married my wife Jodi in may. I'm working on my first child and whether it be boy or girl I will never force them into fishing.
But, I due pray that they love fishing like Ann,
If not, they can spend lots of time with their mother shopping (just kidding).

Matt and Ann:
Congrats on the fish. I was at Chucks when you came in. I was astonished when I looked in the cooler to see the size of that monster.
Matt be proud, your daughter is nice and polite. I am really amazed that they make bibs that small.

Hey Rich,
I just got your message. It has been a long time since Sunday & I can't quite remember where we were.
Just kidding. I will give you a call tomorrow, but I have to ask Ann if I can tell you. She picked the spot.
The weather looks tough for the next 2 days but hopefully we will be out this weekend.
Talk to tomorrow.

Tom,
Is there anything better than watching your kids catching a fish? I have said it before, the only thing that would have made Sunday better would be if Ann had caught that fish. The only reason I picked that rod up was because we had another fish on & the kids were busy.
Hopefully we will be out Saturday.
T.J. I saw the picture of the fish you guys had, great job.
See ya on the water.
