Friends, I'm sitting here w/my good friend Mr.151 in Philly looking over the bass barn.since we're not fishing together,we decided to drink together. He showed me what he posted on the barn and the responses.I felt compelled to comment.Leaving the fishing industry was one of the hardest decisions I've ever made, but financially it just doesn't cut it anymome. I'd like to think I've treated the people on my boat more like friends than customers. It's probably why I put so much pressure on myself to catch fish. I didnt want to let my friends down.I feel so lucky to have been able to spend so much of my life on the water.I know I will look back and remember my 23yrs. running boats as some of the best times of my life. Of course,I'll never stop fishing w/my friends. Just keep your ears open on the water. If you hear someone screaming, its just me, feeling the same way with every fish, just like my first one! Thanks for all the kind comments. Before I sign off, check out mt friend Skip on the "Stalker" if you want to go fishing. He's one of the best fisherman I know. GOOD FISHIN! Capt. Don

Capt. Don:
In view of your leaving the fishing industry for now, to persue another career, I am glad that I had the pleasure of fishing with you just before Christmas and found out first hand that you are one of the best fisherman on the water, and a gracious Captain to your passengers......I know that you will be as successful in your new career as you have been in fishing.....
I hope that we will be seeing post on the Barn from time to time from you also.....I wish you good luck.....Geo.aka Fisherguy53

Capt Don,
I will always remember all the fun I had with you and "One Dollar Bob" and appreciate everything I learned while fishing with you. It has definitly made me a better fisherman and we still use much of what you shared in knowledge on our boat. Good luck in all you do. See ya on the water.

Don,
I am glad to have gotten to know you and happy that you enjoy your new job. Talking to you on Saturday is the happiest I have ever heard you. The Big Red Boat will miss you but you have to do what is best for your family. Food on the table or running the boat. Your choice was made for you. That being said be carefull at work and try to keep all your fingers and toes. LOL
Laura
Maybe you can moonlight and run the boat on the weekend????

Captain Don, I only fished with you about 4 times a year, all striper fishing, but enjoyed every trip. I was the real tall guy that always fished the bow and used lighter tackle than most. You always took the time to chat with your customers and give advice, I escecailly liked when some one came up on top of you and parked themselves in your drift, learned a new vocabulary every time :D :D , I WILL MISS THOSE TRIPS AND YOUR HELP AND ADVICE!!! Good luck in your new venture, I'm sure you'll succeed!! I only fished with you when I wasn't fishing my boat, have to find another way, I hate change, GOOD LUCK AGAIN, CAPTAIN DON, you where in every sense of the word a "CAPTAIN" smile.gif fishpole(Leon)

Capt Don,
Sorry to hear you have left the boat seen. I have enjoyed fishing with you on your Big Red Boat. Whenever we went out with you we always had the optimism of catching fish. You sure made a kids day last fall when one of our soccer kids took the pool. Many thanks for many good times, especially the Barn trip of December of 2002. Good luck and keep fishing. Good luck Capt. Don! You probably don't remember me but, I sure remember the "The Big Red boat" and the day we had! By far my best time striper fishing to date. That day I was sailing with Skip but, his boat had some problems so him & I decided to join you guys. Skip told me that you were the best and you won't be disapointed and he was right. We killed um!
I've been on many different party boats where the Captains don't even come out of the wheelhouse or They won't sail if they have less than 10 guys ect. ect. You were out helping and giving advise the majority of the trip. I think you even broke your own net trying get one of the nice ones in. I learnt alot that day and I still keep learning from guys like you. Guys who have a true passion for this sport.
Thanks!! :D & Good Luck in whatever you choose
