Hit the rips at noon for the change of the tide.
Just a flannel shirt on to start.
Bucktail tipped with herring fillets from last April.
Finished around 3:30 with 9 stripers. I kept two at 27 and 30 inches.
It pays to salt and refrigerate bait in the spring for winter fishing.
The last striper was the 30 incher on my light spinning rod. Just as I hook it the wind kicks up out of the NE. Get it to the boat and slide it into the net. Somehow the two piece net decides to come apart jusrt as the striper slides in. The striper had a little more fight left and he takes off with the net. Now there is fish and drag and the wind is getting stronger. Eventually land both. Sometimes it sucks fishing alone :D
Had my insulated jacket, gloves and woll hat on for the bumpy ride back. Loved every minute of it. :D :D :D
Arrived at the dock just as Captainbadfinger and Jeff finish cleaning their fish. Perfect timing. When I finished they had a hot cup of Wawa coffee waiting for me. A perfect January 4th. :D
