Drum ?

[Catch em Cook em and Eat em]

I'm thinking of going on a Cape May head boat one night this week . The fish report they give talks about 60 pound Drum being caught . I don't mean to sound foolish but what are these ? How many are you allowed to keep ? Are they red or black drum ? What pound test and what bait do you use to catch them ?

Thay are Black drum, you are allowed to keep 3 at 16" or better. You can catch them on a 20 - 30 lb outfit, you may want to go with the heavier outfit on a headboat since it will cut down on tangles. Surf clam is the bait of choice.

Yes, surfclam is the best. You will need plenty of it. Change your baits at least every 15 minutes.
