Headed down South Jersey to do some fishing in the back bays Monday night and Tuesday of next week. Anyone else will be soaking bait or tossing lures? This is my first time in 20 years doing something other than 'surf' fishing and my first time out this year. We'll see what happens.

Monday night I will be sitting on a couch in the vicinity of Pribyslav CZ attempting to make a good first impression with my girl's parents...both of whom speak zero english. Meet the Fockers with a massive language barrier. I know more Czech than they know English...so it should be quite hilarious.
I expect to return to 48 degree water, calm breezes and some not-so-terribly-bright bass :D
If the return flight doesn't kick my @ss too terribly I will likely be on a sodbank in the evening hours of Sunday the 25th
Good luck Steve

You may do best with bait rather than lures this early. The fish are cold and sluggish. Blood worms and clam work well this early.

First skunk of the season on the sod banks in SoJo. Soaked clam with one rod. Had one hit with visible teeth marks taken out of the clam belly. Any ideas? I was thinking winter flounder, but do they hit clam?
I also tried evey artificial known to man with my other rod. Nothing happening.
Anyone have any luck? Headed out again today to try.
Tight lines all.

Even Steven...at least you're out there trying. I'll be giving it a shot this weekend if the w*nd isn't too bad.
FYI...it wasn't a winter flounder taking a bite out of your clam...they don't have big teeth.
