Iv'e seen differnt methods used, but personally haven't seriously fished worms. What's your rig for the back bay?

You can ask at the tackle shop.
Most use 4/0 or 5/0 long shank hook with 18" to 36" leader with a cork painted Fl. Orange with a fish finder rig for the weight.:D

For spring worm fishing I sell a ton of popmano style rigs which are basicly high low style rigs weighted at the bottom with hooks on short dropper loops. Worms seem to go on 3/0 or 4/0 hooks the clam fishermen will use 5/0 or 6/0. early on most of the fishermen use rigs with no floatsand most of the hits come on the hook closest to the weight.

Use floats after the crabs come out to try to keep it from them, and smaller hooks will catch perch if they are stripping your hooks.

I used to fish the Chesapeake and we used blood worms every day, all year round. I would thread half the worm on the hook and fish it on a fishfinder for bass and a hi/lo for croakers and trout.

When I fish the Del river for bass with bloods i use a 5/0 red gami inline circle on 40 lb. mono leader with a fish finder sleeve.if i was in the backbays lookin for other species probably a hi-lo rig.Float when the crabs are around.
