Hello everyone, I was wodering if anyone trolls special spoons. I want to try them out. I realize that ill have to troll with wire line. I was wondering if anyone has any brands they prefer and what kind of knot to tie the braid to the wire as well as what knot to use from wire to leader, if its even possible. I was looking at cabelas brand of wire. Is it decent?? Anyone with some advice or suggestions would be great. TY

A Question .. Special spoons are quite small. Are you trolling for Stripers? I troll bigger stuff in the 10" to 14" size. Also I have been using super braid with an 8' leader so wire is no longer an absolute.. A 4. oz drail for 10" spoons and 3 oz. for smaller spoons has been getting me down just about as deep as wire. If I need to slow down a bit who cares. Bass like it slow anyway. If you like the rattles in the special spoon there is a bunker spoon out there that rattles and I have been doing great with them.

 3way swivel and leader...
Use a three way swivel and attach a sinker which is heavy enough to keep on the structure(Bottom)...attach a two foot flouro (Strong enough for the targeted species being hunted) and attatch the spoon.
on the third split/or ring of the three way swivel attach your actual line that is running from the rig.(Rod and reel)
Slow down your normal trolling speeds a bit...
While tolling this rig it will definatly keep your spoon and other lighter lures on the deep side.
Be aware though...a sudden snag can really startle you...I would hate to see you cursing BarryTheBass with a broken rod in hand!!!!!
Good Luck & as always...

The secret spoons put out by Jmmy George. Just search them on the net. Each one weighs about 1 lb 9ozs. I was just wondering if anyone has experience with them. Thanks.

The question was about trolling a "Special Spoon" which does exist but it's only about 1 oz. Sorry for the confusion.
