aside from a few schoolies here and there ... the water is still too cold. This storm won't help either.

Last year the water was a bit colder and I started getting fish over 20lbs, at night on Bunker. It was towards the end of March. Bunker will make their showing in a few days. Water in the 40's, In the past I was flounder fishing in the back back bay at 42-44. Surface temp hit 50 today in Keansburg. I was getting bass on the out in the mid 40's and up. I do like that 55 range for the big girls...Ypou can always clam em'...

Cowhunter -- good stuff. Nice website too.
Just curious, those 20lb er's at night in early season - on chunks? If you don't mind me asking - how are you getting fresh bunker that time of the year?

Also, just for info, that early in the season you dont usually see the bunker up top. They are marked on the lower part of the water colomn. They are also not as thick as various schools push into the bay...

Water temps peaked in the low 40's yesterday and today is starting out warmer than the last few days but tonight is supposed to be very cold. Towards the end of the week though it should be warm enough. I'll probably be out there this weekend.
