Rick Lentz and his son Ryan climbed aboard on Sunday morning and off we went in the fog to seek out the elusive striped bass and drum. It was outgoing tide and I got a chance to try the new Anchor Puller. Fantastic! Anyway, we stopped and immediately got covered by Spiny dogs mixed with smooth dogs. Some were huge! It was good practice for the guys using circle hooks and when my buddy called to say the he had a bite or 2, off we went. We anchored again and found some sharks again but after a while, Rick set up on the first bass of the year on the Free Spirit. His smile tells it all

Now, Ryan had never caught a striper , sooo, it became his turn. He waited and, Gotimon!

He definitely has found something he likes!. Before the day was over, they caught 6, lost 2, and had a ball.

I knew that there were drum being caught 2 miles from where we sat but nobody wanted to leave these beautiful fish to catch fish. The drum, for the most part are puppies as I understand and I don't like to kill the small ones. There isn't a whole load of meat on the small ones but they are a blast to catch and on a circle hook, they are easy to release. We generally throw back anything under 30 lbs and keep the big'uns. That makes good sense, huh? By the way, 2 days just opened up. May 10 and 11 so if you have a desire to take part in what is happening and getting better daily, call or email me. I can't wait to get back out there!
