I'm Just curious who uses what.
Lets not try to change anyones mind. We all have our favorite for various reasons.
My choice is Fireline. Color, Smoke.

Mono by ANDE. I've seen too many fish lost by a failed knot due to no-stretch line.
Just my preference....Ask Lunchman :D
I use power-pro...nothing against other similar products but I've had success with power-pro and like its properties....so..........why switch??

Moss green Power-Pro for me, 30 pound for casting, 50 pound for everything else usually. I am interested to hear the pro's on Stren super-braid??

Fireline mostly, but I use PP also. smile.gif I like them both.

PP on my trolling rods because that's what the guy at the tackle shop had in bulk. If he only had Fireline, I would have told him to spool me up with that. I was just looking for a thin diameter line so I could get more capacity on my reel. I use mono on my spinning rigs. I use to use super-braids for jigging because of the superior feel but they got all screwed up on the spinning reels.

Power-Pro Moss Green. Been using it since I started bridge fishing a few years ago and now use it for everything. 20# on the plugging rod and flounder fishing, 30# on the bridge rod, and 50# for chunking.

Same here as Young Guns on using PP exclusively. I used to use Fireline and loved it too. I just hated those little hairs/frays that would always show on the Firdline after it got broken in. Even though I never really had a breakoff problem with it, it was a confidence issue. I also think PP is just a tad thinner pound for pound vs. Fireline, which I like. Hey, I'm going to try the new Stren Braid this year too. I'm always looking for that technical "edge".It makes up for lack of talent. LOL :D ;) :D

Fire line. I have a reel filled with PP and it seems to have less knot strength. With FL a simple Palomar knot works fine for terminal tackle. Spider hitch, Uni-knot and improved clinch work well too. FL is stiff when new but limbers up after a use or too. It looks nasty after a season, but its still strong.

Did well with both. But I think there's a place for mono.Mono will give a different decend rate, for bucktailing and jigging and sometimes this is what they want, and I like mono for wk.fish.Just bought Seaguar carbon pro mono floro fishing line.Has any one used it?

10# fireline for flounder, 16# Ande Green tournament for stripers and blues, 10# Ande for trout on the boat. On the surf Berkley Sensi-thin, 14# or 20# for stripers, blues and channel bass. 6# or 10# of the same for flounder, sea mullet and trout.

PP still gets the nod im my store, not that there is a real problem with fireline, but the Pp does have a smaller diameter and at least looks like it holds up better.
I would suggest you give the yellow PP a try. Its all I use now whenever I have to respool a rig or put a new one into service. It is just amazing how nice it is to actually see where your line is going, especially in low light or when you are fishing with a group of fishermen. If you worry about fish seeing the line use a leader, most fishermen already do. Or if you would rather tie direct use a magic marker and darken the last two feet of line.

Used PP for 4 years, going back to mono this year, The tangles are crazy, never had a knot problem, if your fishing with bud's and they don't have PP, you end up cutting them off on multi hookup's, had some problems casting with the conventional reels, thought about super braid, but just decided to go back to mono, thinking about spooling a couple of reels with the new Cajun Red next. If your using PP, make sure you have good guides, it will score them

I use them all.
Fireline for rocky areas. By far it has the best abrasion resistance. If PP touches a rock it's gone. Draw back is Fireline is thicker and lays flat because of the dacron filler in it.
I use Power Pro on most of my inshore baitcaster. The thinner rounder shape works great. I also like Stealth.
I use Izor Spectra for my offshore reels as backing. It has no color so it doesn't have the waxy build up that PP has. It last forever, while other wax coated lines get rough and bumpy from using them under alot of pressure.

I used Fireline & PP, but found the stren braid to be superior. After one full year of the stren I'm replacing it on my reels as they need line.
I think Stren Braid is going to gain popularity this year.

They are both good lines, but had PP break off on me 2 or 3 times (not the knot). FL has never broke on me. I have been using FL for around 4 years and PP for around one.

Always preferred Power Pro, but after using the Stren, I now prefer that! I agree with dave, use the yellow and a few feet of fluro leader for the best combo.

Started with Fireline when it first came out, loved it, switched to power pro for a while when it came out then went back to Fireline, tried stealth on one reel last year, haven't used it enough to say how good it is, but i've used 10, 20 and 30 lb. test Fireline and Power Pro about the same amount of time going on almost a decade now and have formed the following opinion.
Fireline is a better line in those tests! It is the strongest, much more abrasion resistant, ties better knots, doesn't fade in the sun as quickly as power pro and doesn't tangle and cut into you as easy as power pro.
Only negative thing you can say about Fireline is it may be a little thicker than power pro, and it looks like it frays after a while, but it handles better when it gets that frayed look and it doesn't seem to effect it's strength.
I like Power pro, but it has snapped on me when you allow it to slack then pull hard, snap! It cuts you like a knife and is a nightmare when it gets tangled. Otherwise it's decent line, very thin and sensitive, handles well but overall i like Fireline better.

Power Pro over Fireline but I just got a spool of Tuff Line from James Tackle, much cheaper then PP and seems to be good stuff. Used on a reel Seabass fishing this month and seemed to be fine, need more time with it to make a good opinion.

Spiderwire Stealth
Tried it last year and liked it so much that I'm spooling it on on everything but the trolling rigs this year. No problems with knot failures, fraying, wind knots and it lays on the spool great, it stays round and the teflon coating doesnt wear off.

FIRELINE FIRELINE FIRELINE!!! HAVE USED P.P AND SPIDERWIRE. FIRE LINE SEEMS TO GET MUCH LESS WIND KNOTS. LAST WHAT SEEMS LIKE FOR EVER.AND IS EASER TO UNTANGLE. POWER MAY GIVE YOU A LITTEL MORE DISTINCE. DID NOT LIKE SPIDER WIRE AT ALL.TRIDE THAT RED CAJUN HAD POOR KNOT STERGTH AND BROKE DOWN FROM U.V. RAYS TO FAST.

I used fireline for several years and it is fine. As you use it, the surface gets a bit shaggy. i talked to Berkly and they told me that the shaggy stuff is a coating that gets on the line as part of the manufacturing process. It is actually better when it is shaggy than new according to them. I have gone to Spiderwire Stealth for several reasons. first, 50 lb is the same diameter as 30 fireline and 12 lb. mono. second, it holds up great with the teflon in it. Third, it is cheaper than Fireline. it is all I use for ocean fluking and wreck fishing with the charters. I also use it when bucktailing in the rips because it is so sensitive.

STELTH SPIDER WIRE.
It is coated and does not sink into the spool. Cast is much better.
I did the Power Pro thing and just did not like it. It got weak after a month or two.

Everyone using anything else is wrong. :D :D :D :D :D

I HAVE SOME OF MY REELS SPOOLED WITH FIRELINE 30 ,POWERPRO 50LB, STEALTH 65LB .THEY HOLD UP PRETTY DAM GOOD WHEN FISHING AROUND JETTYS OR CHUNKING. I USE HIGH VIS COLORS SO I CAN SEE WHICH DIRECTION THE FISH IS HEADING WHEN HOOKED. ALL YOU NEED IS TO CHECK THE LINES FOR NICKS OR FOR FRAYING WHILE YOUR FISHING .PALOMAR KNOT WORKS REAL GOOD .SPIN OR CASTING!!!!!!!!!!!

Ive been using PP but tried the stren and love it,both from the boat and from the surf.I think the stren seems to hold its color much beter than PP never had a brake-off at all with using the polmar on all my rigs.....GREAT STUFF

I prefer Fireline over Powerpro. While Fireline does fray, it does not appear to effect its srength. Also, I find Fireline to be more forgiving with respect to windknots.
The diameter of Fireline is larger than Powerpro, but my testing has indicated that Fireline test out higher than Powerpro. For example, 14# Fireline tests out over 20#. I love 14# Fireline for all my plugging and eeling applications.
