Hello all-
I'm running my grandfathers '76 Glastron trihaul and the same 70hp Merc he ran all those years ago (I re-built it my self) My problem is that almost all the gas stations these days are adding alcohol to the gas- anyone know of a place to by 'real' gas near Harve de Grace?
Thanks in advance - Matt:o

I feel your pain brother. Luckily up here in the poconos everything is still MTBE. And luckily I get about 250 miles to a tank of gas. I just fill up here and it usually lasts me for a couple days.

I don't know of any non Ethanol stations that way

As far as I know the Royal Farm gas stations along rt. 40 in Cecil county don't have ethanol added. There are no labels posted on the pumps.

I've been lucky to get aviation fuel 100 low lead from my local airport, but you have to hump it in 5 gallon jugs, boat runs great but real costly.
usualy run 50/50 avfuel/premium, if you want some probably should know a local at your nearest airport, don't say your using it for your boat but for a experimental aircraft. good luck.:D

Most gas stations in MD are MTBE as far as I know. I've stopped at several and they have been. If the fuel is E10 there will be a sticker on the pump.

All delaware pumps are tainted with that stuff by law!!
I have been using this stuff and it seems to work well..
A guy was telling me how ethanol sucks the moisture out of the air and into
the tank...

a guy who we put a kicthin in his house this winter told me that he has to replace two tanks in his 35 hatteras due to the ethonol eating away the plastic and clogging the fuel system. cant be good for the engines either:(

I called Mercury when all this ethanol crap started. They told me that the ethanol will cause older fuel lines to breakdown. They recommended replacing old lines. They also recommended a fuel additive, theirs of course, and a 10 micron fuel filter.

I'm up in PA- just across the MD line so I'll take a look around here. Thanks for all the great info- May the cows come home for you all!

I'm convinced thats what is causing my merc. to leak gas and run bad...

Its an 01 4stroke, never had a single issue until the ethanol came into the picture.. Now its acts strange all the time.. (the engine had 4hrs on it when i got it from a buddy in Jan.. He would use it for 5min. every once in a while to get from the back of the pond to the front)

StarTron's Fuel Treatment is definitely the way to go but for the older engines you do need to change all your fuel lines. Research has stated this in many articles. Any engines that are older than 10 years will need to change their fuel lines and tanks if they are not aluminum or stainless. Old metal tanks may also have some sludge in their bottoms which will break down any get into the engine. Older fuel lines were never made to handle ethanol fuel which is an alcohol base product that acts as a solvent. It will de-solve old neoprene fuel lines and plastic tanks which will get into your engine. StarTron will work great with any fuel, their diesel fuel additive is just more concentrated and will work with gas without a problem too.

The 10-micron water separator filter I think is a must for any boat. I don't know why boats are ever put together without them.
