The day started by not being able to find fresh clams until 6:30 am. My bad, fishing trip was last minute and couldn't place a reserve in time.
I gave my 8 year old son a school pass.
After opening up a bushel of clams, I started to notice that the winds were increasing and I broke out the Dramamine.
As we were getting ready to depart, I'm looking for my jacket and realized I left it at the WaWa bathroom. AAAggghh! It was still there when I went back.
Vinny and I eventuall made it out past the Cape May Canal and I saw one of these on his face  . Turned around went back to the slip. Since I come from Hershey, I didn't feel like turning right around and heading home. So we went to the zoo. (Nice place, 1st time there and certainly a windy day alternative to kill some time)
Got back to the dock around 4:30 and since the wind was laying down we decided to give it another shot. We anchored up west of the 60ft. Heavily chummed immediately. Within 15 minutes we had one short. In next 5 minutes all hell breaks loose. One rod goes off, bite on other, another rod goes off. I give what appeared to be the largest fish to my 8 year old. The look on his face was something I won't forget after we boat a 37", 17 pd. striper. Ended the day shortly after.
$35 for clam
$100 for gas
Memory of his 1st big striper-Priceless
