    Default Anglers Edge Marine

I've been a member of the Barn for several years and browse several times a week but seldom post. I was kicking around selling my boat but wasnt sure how to list it. I happened to see the post by Bob from Anglers Edge Marine (www.anglersedgemarine.com)on the BARN SALE. I contacted him and conseqyiuently listed the my boat. It was sold even before I paid Bob the $169. I had serious calls from Florida, New York, Connecticut, and the buyer who was from Nova Scotia. Bob was very helpful throughout the process and highly reccommend his service.

    Hey John,

Give me a buzz when you can. If your not getting enough calls then we need to make some changes. I noticed that you reduced the price in other places on the web. Do you want me to match those changes?

This season has been a little tough on the pleasure boat market. I guess when it comes to die hard fisherman they buy boats even if gas is $10 per gallon because it's not just a hobby, it's a passion(I know I would fall in this category). Seems like the pleasure folks just get other hobbies. It's definetely a little more difficult this time of year with pleasure boats because they are usually fair weather buyers as well. May/June/July being the best pleasure boat months.

The buying time for saltwater fishermen seems to be totally different. The majority of these guys buy from October through March for the most part. 1) most guys don't sell boats during the height of fishing season
    2) Guys want to buy their new boats and have them rigged and ready by the time the spring run starts.
3)Mid summer they are fishing and do not want to be boatless.

The thing that has really suprised me lately is the amount of overseas buying going on. With the USD in the toilet right now and the Euro strong the buyers are coming out of the woodwork.

I get at least one call a day from someone out of the country looking to buy a boat and have it shipped. Lately it has been Athens Greece, Ireland, and Italy.

    Tight lines, Bob

2-3 weeks ago I surveyed two boats for guy from Australia. He bought both boats.. Both were 23ft Seaswirls in the 20-22k range. 14k each to get them over their and he had them both sold for almost twice(Aussy dollars) what he had into them. He just emailed me about another boat in Richmond VA. I'm waiting to hear what he wants to do with that one..

Trust me, I asked him....but it's too much boat to ship for what he's doing.. Shipping was like 10-11K then taxes to get it into Aus, total was between 14 and 15K, plus 20-22k for the boats. They ship them right out of Baltimore direct, no moving them from boat to boat, less chance of damage.

He told me he can get 55-60 Aus for those Seaswirls. Their dollar is real close to ours right now. Lots closer than it was a year ago.. So he's making a nice chunk of change on each one. They were 23ft Cutty's. He said he might use one of them for a couple of months before he sells it.

One of them he paid me for an over nighter to Montauk, travel, motel and my survey fee. I'll look at anything he finds, maybe keep me half busy over the winter, their summer..
