    Default Carpenter Bees

I was working out side yesterday and saw a bee buzzing around the builge discharge so I put tape on the hole. Then I filled the the bildge with water turned it on and 4 bees flew out. I hope they dont chew thorw plastic.

That stinks. I was down on Florida a few weeks ago and looked at a beautiful 228 mako sitting on foam blocks...there was a steady stream of carpenter ants coming in and out of the drain hole...they were either living in there or going in for water..either way, never saw a boat infested with bugs before...

Never saw much problem with Bees or ants except for bee hives on boats. I know when I had my headboat in the Keys cock-a-roaches were a constant battle. Food people would leave and bait are right at the top of their list. Gallons of bleach above and under the deck was the only way to stay ahead of them..

That's a horrible thought though... Those carpenter bees do cut nice round holes. The soffit boards on the house are full of holes from them. I don't think they like wet wood though..

we had them in the roof at home, get dryon dust and spray it in the hole they are going in and out of, they will come out and quickly die once you spray that dryon stuff in there, it knocked their diks in the dirt, thats my suggestion

i used to love those carpenter bees as a kid. dad would hand me one of those thin yellow whiffle ball bats and tel me to go to town. if you got a kid this makes for some really great batting practice. after a few dozen he or she will be able to hit anything

They're not after the plastic, they want wood.

Hopefully you got them out of there before they did any damage. Check the hose to see if they got through it.

They do make a perfect 1/2" hole. Kids badmitton racket and stomp on 'em.
Put water in the bilge, run the pump and look for leaks.
