Default Smallies on the Delaware 6/7/08

Well I finally got out with a couple of friends to catch some smallies today. Anthony and his son Tony met up with me at the ramp at 5:15 am and we were pleasantly surprised with the water conditions with all of the rain we had the last few days. We started reading water temps in the 70 degree range first thing and decided to throw a little topwater. The third cast brought in a 11" smallie. Not a bad start. Within the first half hour we had 3 more in the boat all around the same length. They were caught on a pop-r and a spider jig. We moved all around the river and fished till about 2:30 when it hit about 99 degrees and it became unbearable! We ended the day with just over a dozen smallies cathcing them on the pop-r, spider jigs, tubes and shakey head. The biggest smallie of the day was well over 3 lbs!

We launched out of the Yardley PA ramp. The water heated up pretty fast. Started out with 70 degrees and by 2:30 it was over 75.2 degrees. We were catching them on rock piles and wood together. I can never figure out how to post my pics on here...everytime I try to it says my file is too large...any suggestions?

Open the pics in microsoft paint. Click on the image tab at the top and choose "stretch/skew" in the stretch boxes try a small number instead of 100 like say 20 in each box then hit ok. Click on file at the top choose save as and name it something. That way you still have the large file if you want to print it later.

    Hope it helps

Thanks...we were using tubes, pop-r, shakey heads and spider jigs. Every bait we threw caught at least one smallie. They seemed to be hitting just about everything we threw. Not what you would expect with 98 degree blue bird sky conditions!

nice! We used to wade the streams in NE Oklahoma for smallies - anything that resembled a crawdad they'd just murder! I swear, if those things had teeth, it wouldn't be safe to swim in the water!!

I haven't fished for em here in Mass yet...

It has been getting better each day for the smallies here. Iam going to try something totally different for me this weekend...I am going shark fishing with my buddy! We will see how it goes. We are supposed to have favorable conditions from what I hear and the fishing has been pretty good. I will let you all know how we make out!

FYI...I am selling my jet boat...it is posted on the barn sale section...give it a gander if you are looking for a great boat!
