Got started around 7am and ran south from the hook looking for albies. Found some birds workin and picked at a few bluefish. We decided to turn back north.
Started to see more and more packs of working birds but the schools were moving so fast that even the birds couldn't keep up.
They were albies but they we not giving us many chances. We threw everything including flies but we could only manage one swing and a miss after i basiclly dropped it on the albies head.
Continued north and after a few more blues the bass showed up. They were boiling on very small bait, rainfish I would assume as they would not hit anything larger than a 007. The bigger jigs did not get touched. The only problem were the schools were small and unless you were on top of they you weren't catchen fish. We managed seven bass to 34 inches (aprox) and our fair share of blues.
Not a bad day, it's starting![]()
