Spent friday afternoon on the troll in the mouth of eastern bay with very little action. We only boated at fish just under 26". We marked tons of bait and had an 8 line spread out. The high tide never started to ebb. The crab pot markers just bobbed straight up and down for hours.
On the ride home we decided to eel in the Bay Bridge area. I am glad we did. Within 5 minutes I landed a fish just under 36". Shortly there after I got another eel rigged up and out under a bobber but decide to reel it in to drop it further based on marks on the finder. As I was reeling it in a large bass hit it on the surface next to the boat where we could see its bucket mouth trying to grab the eel. Unfortunately I couldnt free spool fast enough for him to take it enough to set the hook. My coworker Bill was hooked up on another bass but was new to eeling and didnt let the bass take it enough so we lost that one too. We had two other run-offs. Fun night at dusk around the bridge. Here is what I brought home for table fare.
