This was only my second time fishing Hopewell but I've fished Scotts a few times but I think Scotts is off limits til April 4 now so I hit Hopewell. the kids have caught a few trout at scotts. Hopewell is designated a big bass lake so I figured there should be some decent fish in there but maybe not-You think there's really muskies in there?

There are northern pike but I've never heard of musky or walleye but i can't swear they are not in there. The rest of usual warmwater species are in there. Caught lots of LM bass last year biggest probably 3#.

Thanks! the only thing I've ever really fished for in the sweet water was LM and trout, I always thought the big toothy ones were cold water fish Have you caught any pike yourself? When's a good time of year for it? For it being a trophy lake I hope there's bigger bass in there than 3 # dont get me wrong -that's a respectable fish but I don't think it warrants big bass lake status. I was thinking the place was loaded with 3#ers and a nice fish was 5 and up

I fished there when I was in college a fair amount of time. I noticed in the summer you have to fish it at dawn or just after sundown. I caught a lot of bass there 5# was the largest. Caught one pike on a live sunny very early in the A.M. Caught a small walleye up by the dam on a suspending crank bait.

I find in the warmer weather early mornings and evenings are best. Thats the first walleye I've of coming out of there. It's probably good for pike ice fishing heard of a good size one thru the ice this year. This has been a good year for ice fisherman with the weather in the lower counties especially. Years ago used to get many walleye at struble lake. I fish it once in a while but walleyes hard to come by. Just great to be on water fish or two a bonus.

There is a lake on Marlboro Rd near rt49 near Shiloh & Bridgeton. I don't know the name of it.

I always knew that as Arrowhead Lake. Pretty small, I fished it in a boat a few times over 10 years ago.

I used to put a good catch of crappie and walleye together at Lake Struble. There used to be big bass in there too. Haven't fished it in about 6 years though. My best SE PA walleye fishing was always the spillway of Blue Marsh. Also caught some huge Tiger Musky in that area.

Thanks for the info. It was a toss up between Struble and Hopewell the other dy - I'm gonna hit Struble next time at least untill the water warms up a little more. Seems to me the deeper areas of hopewell aren't within casting distance.

I've never had a whole lot of luck there, but there are supposedly lots of largemouths in there. I believe the state record for the largest smallmouth bass was actually caught out of there-or at least at one point it held the record. They don't stock it with trout though.
