Can anyone recommend a marina on the lower bay that's decent and within range of the rips?

I have an 18CC that I'd like to slip and fish the bay but within a reasonable distance of the rips and out front.

I saw a place on rt 47 called bayview I think around MM12, any good? How's it's access to the bay?

What about nearer to Cape May?

    Thanks a lot

    Bass,
Bayway is a good marina, great owners and good middle of the bay location, you really can go just about anywhere from there. I was there two years ago, and ended up moving to cape may, If your leaning more towards fishing the rips or the ocean, then your better off down in cape may. It is about an 11 mile ride from bayway to the canal, and if the wind is blowing it is no fun. In Cape May, try Breezlee, Snug Harbor, and Hinches.
    Good luck

Bass Seeker- Been a Bayway for five years. Great owners and nice slips. Everything from cleaning stations, slips, parking, and bath facilities first class.

I have a 21 ft walk thru and have made the run to the rips but if the winds kick up it's a rough trip back.

I rarly go to the rips since the chunking in the bay has been so good. Today we made a 12 mile run to the Horseshoe and hooked into close to 20 stripers.

The Cape May area does give you some options when the wind is coming from the west but I can't complain about the fishing out of BayWay the last few years. Limited on fluke three or four times last year and put over 40 bass on the boat betwee Spring and Fall. Can't brag about the weakies though.

Good luck in your search for a Marina. If you stop at Bayway, I'm on B dock. Be glad to say hello and chat for a while.

Bass Seeker, Welcome to the Barn.
I was at Bayway for 4 years when it was Bidwell Creek Marina. Not a good deal making the run to the rips in a 18 footer (16 miles to Prissy). If it kicks up with NW or W winds like Silent A said, it can be a long and nasty ride back. Snug Harbor will differenly be more money than Bayway, but I'm now sure of the price. Try BLZ in the old section for a good price.
One other thing, if you decide to go to the CM area, you can always fish the back waters (ICW) when it's nasty out front or in the bay. When the bay is nasty at Bayway, there is no place to go. Don't get me wrong, I'm not putting down Bayway, it's a great place and the fishing can be great. Tom has realy did a great job fixing the place up. Just giving you the facts with your 18 footer, you will probably get more fishing time in down the CM area. Good Luck.

Bass Seeker- I pay $48.00 a foot at BayWay for my 21 footer. Comes to about a grand for the season that runs from Apr 1 to Nov. 1. Tom usually lets his customers stay in thru Thanksgiving weekend for the striper season.

Talked to Fred last week. I think all the slips are booked, but give him a call. He will be adding slips where the old ramp was at, but it has to be dredged first.

Bayway, stop in and talk to Tom and Vangie. Get a slip or leave it on the trailer and ramp it. They added new slips this year. check it out.

Steve, it's not just the rips. I agree, there is great fishing out of Bayway, I was there for 4 years (3 miles from my house). The only problem with a 18'cc boat out of BW, is when you get a good W or NW wind there is no place to go. For the weekend fisherman, this could be a problem. A weekend fisherman (w/18'cc) will make out better if he has the backwaters to fish.

Bayway is a good place to slip but do not let them perform any service work to your engine.
