Default What nj species have you caught?

I'll start with the sweetwater since thats where I put in most of my time

Largemouth Bass up to 5lbs 2oz
    Pickerel up to 20"
    Crappie
    Channel Catfish to 6lbs
    White Catfish to 5lbs
    Bluegills
    Yellow Perch
    White Perch
    American Eel to 2'

Goals for '10 are land a 10#+ flathead
Catch a smallmouth bass, preferably over 3# but wont be picky

    Saltwater

    Striper up to 25ish inches
    Tog up to 4lbs
    Bluefish
    Flounder
    Sea bass

Goals for '10 are "land" 4+ ft brown shark, 20"+ flounder, keeper striper, and 6#+ tog. I think the easiest will be the tog.

So that puts me at 14 species outta the yak in NJ. What do yo guys catch?

    Default ordering sharkin stuff

Mike, I am going to be ordering some sharkin tackle within the next couple weeks if you want in. I will be getting some 9/0 octo circles, 270# wire, 150# mono, 350# swivels, and some nice balsa wood floats to fish the upper column. Can't forget the menhaden oil to create a slick.I also have a dexter bait knife for you. Let me know!

"You're gonna need a bigger boat"

I know how the times can be. Tell ya what, I am gonna order the stuff, give you half, and we will call it even. Anything different you want (hook type, size, wire)? I plan to use about 6-12" of wire crimped to the hook, 350# swivel connected to about 4-6' of 150# test, uni-uni knot to main line.

    BTW, what's an ocean perch?

    I'm not destitute........LOL!!! I'm good for a share! I won't need half........(1) Rig........(1)24 foota'

Hooks.....got my own choice for Browns and Threshers: Gami Big River Bait Hooks 12/0! I like to set a hook I would advise against crimps on smaller sharks.......a Haywire Twist and the tool to do it is the ticket!!!

You need to stop by here some day and see the pics(and JAWS) of Sharks my wife and I have caught in the past....she still has me beat with a 235 lb. to my 165 lb. from the surf!!!

JUST a Perch in Saltwater........don't know the difference myself!

    And Sampo Swivels!!!

Might be a little more safe but not as fun though. I would still try it but I dont think the bite will be as good.
