    Default Sharking

I am looking to try my hand at some shark fishing. Did it in a tourney last year but the charter guy didn't help in answering all my questions. I am purely a catch and release angler and want to wrastle with some big boys. I need info on rigging, equipment, where to try and what to do when I get one to the boat. Any info or guidance on where to find it is appreciated.

Try the offshore forum. Do a search or wait about about 6 weeks and everyone will be talking.

Them threshers will be on the bunker soon. I have lost one to many wires and spoons to them. Right on the beach. Biggest hook around 12 foot off of ocean grove. But theres no chance on my wire rods. You have me thinking about going for them in May. I have hooked 40 or 50 in my life. I will post my findings.

Click on to the NJ angler and go to the show section. They did two shows last year on sharkfishing and you can still pull it up on the web. That should get you started. Then I would get a book on the basics and read that as well.

    Good luck,

    Joe

I bought a shark fishing book years ago that was published by The Fisherman Library which was very informative called "Fishing For Sharks" by Capt. Pete Barrett. I'm not sure if it's still published, since this was back in the early 90's but if you can still find it, it will probably answer most of your questions & get you on the right track. If I remember right, it was only around $10.00 but like I said, this was back in the early 90's.
    Good luck...
