    Default Northbar Plugs

Anybody ever use them? Basically a plastic version of the Gibbs darter. I am thinking about them as a new addition to Seaside Sam's store.

In no way are they a plastic version of a Gibbs darter. Completely different plug. They are bottle darters and will dart and swim at the same time. They will also dig deeper then an SS darter or gibbs bottle or darter. I put 5/0's on mine and they still swim like a champ. Ya can't turn these plugs over in big water. They begin to dig as soon as you begin your retrieve. A great plug for targeting big fish when big baits, and big water dominate your fishing.

We had a couple employees discover these plugs while fishing in New England last year. They raved about them. I just had to get them in the shop. I have not fished 'em yet but I will be sure to very soon.

NorthBar Bottledarters are in-stock at Fisherman's Headquarters. We have a half dozen different colors, soon to be more.

Exactly what he said! Seriously, these things are amazing in big water, also rips in a inlet especially when there are some big bait around. I always have one in my bag at all times. These are one of the most versatile plugs in my bag because different retrieve speeds/rod twitches will give this plug amazing action. Must have plug for any surf/inlet plug thrower!

    Bill,
When you said you put 5/0's on these you mean you switch out the trebel on the tail with a 5/0 dressed swiash hook? If so I was thinking about doing the same with the new Plastic ones I picked up the other day. I have a wood one that I needed to add hooks as they are bought without hooks or at least where.

Nope-- I put a 5/0 VMC 4x treble in the front and rear. Doesnt really affect it too much..

Well the mailman delivered the Northbar plugs today and they look great! I think they will be a really good fish catcher when they are on bigger bait.

Most guys will be under the impression that these things like SS Bottle plugs are only used in rough surf...not the case. We slaughtered the fish in flat water at Cutty and LI on many occasions last year. You don’t need rough water but you do need moving water
