    Question

I went clamming instead of fishing the DB. So who went and how did you do?

I went and had steady action all day on fluke, all shorts. Finally found two keepers in 13' of water on out going one 19" one 20".
Heard on the radio people were killing croakers.
    Bunker all over the place.

Out today for our weekly excursion! The sharks were hitting heavy between MM and Flattop. Boated about 20 flatties but only 3 keepers. Heard alot of talk about croakers on the radio but no action for us.

Since you asked! First some good news, a few guys at my marina limited out on 14" to 15" weakfish. Some other guys caught 4 or 5 weakfish. So I guess we are seeing more weakfish around. Maybe MD could tell us more.

We had 11 fluke up to 22" today. Very slow fishing in the morning on the flood tide. For some reason those fluke do not want to bite on the flood tide. I waited for the ebb and we did much better. Also the drift was very slow today. Not enough current to get us going fast enough. Pretty good day considering it was tough fishing. I might even give those weakfish a shot sometime soon on the incoming tide since those fluke don't want to bite.

Fished near the crossledge again today and managed 5 keeper fluke to 22". The wind against tide made for tough conditions today. Moved in near 6 and caught 4 nice croakers and 2 throwback weakies to finish the day. Still had a lot of fun.

    How was the clamming?

Tide was low way to early (4:15am) so I clammed during the incoming tide. Went to avalon looking for some bigger clams and found quite a few.

3 of us always limit out with 450 clams and that is what we came home with. Most were tops and cherries.

    Twin,
LOL That was with 3 people. The nice thing was that I was in the water by 6am and back home before 8:30.

I gave up the commercial clamming quite a while back, but I can still hold my own with the best of them.
