What kind of bait do they have down on the OBX I know they have bunker but do they have clams and do they use anything else.
I might be heading down sometime in Feburary my Keys trip I think is on ice for this year. Never been to the OBX before. I was just wondering about bait.

Bunker, Fat backs, Menhaden, pogies are all the same. Clams work down here but no one sells them. I have a hotel booked tomorrow night if you want in. It'll cost you 3 doz clams though. Ells are used around OI but not real popular at Hatteras point. I have used them but with no success. Didn't see anyone else catch anything either on chunks. Guys will also use shrimp, squid, mullet, or nything else they can get. Fresh is the best but when nothing else is available you got to use what you can. If you want in call me 919-368-3843

I'll be heading to NC tomorrow(Sat). I'm gonna miss Gilly though we will be talking. In fact he should be on the beach fishing right now before this front goes thru.
I want to get in on another trip in Feb. so if you want company let me know. I won't be able to reply for a week or so until I get back. I know of a couple of other guys that said they wanted to go as well.
