Does anyone in S. Jersey use chicken necks for crab bait? A number of years ago it was our preferred bait for crabing. Does anyone know where I can buy them in S.J. or the Phila. area?

Back in the day when my father would take me crabbing in Kent Island Md., they would drive by yelling out the window "you f**king chicken neckers". You can get them in any super market. In south Jersey the perfered bait is bunker but I have used checken also and it lasts longer.
Surething <br />Sea Isle
chicken necks in maryland and bunker in new jersey has been that way for years.
I sometimes use chicken backs as crab bait. I usually get them at pathmark.

Necks and backs are good. I usually buy the whole chicken and cut it up and save the backs and necks for crabbing or making broth. Much cheaper that way.
I only use bunker, chicken does not work for me.
soak the chicken in bunker over night on your refrigerator, best of both worlds![]()

fish come and go,but the memories of fishing with family will last for ever.
bringhurst sells great chickenbait cheap.
I used chicken necks and chicken drum sticks. Drum sticks last longer and I didn't catch any more with the necks.
What Phish saidAND if you want real crabs, go to Md........

40lb for around $20-$30 in MD. Frozen necks. Enough to last me all summer. around 100 baits. I break em down into small bags and take maybe 30 necks for crabbing...changing baits after a few hrs.
NJ people use bunker/fish
MD peeps use necks mostly.
My brother in law put left over steak in the trap. They seemed to like it.
