    Default Teaser Rigs

I know that a lot of you guys use a teaser above the plug you are throwing. I was wondering if there is a website showing how to tie on the teaser ( I think you use a dropper loop?)
Also where do you tie it? I use a barrell swivel to connect my braided line to the flouro carbon. Does the teaser go above or below the swivel?

    Thanks

I tie mine about 12"-18" above the plug. Should be tied on your leader material.

Do a search here and you will find that there are many other ways that people fish teasers.

Thanks for the info. I knew I would get a good response in this forum. The pictures were also helpful.

I would definatly go with 1 of the ways that bay stalker showed. Most important is to keep the teaser over 36 inches from the plug up to the 5 ft as showed. This way when the big striped one hits the teaser it will not be slapped in the side by the plug. IMO Dante's way could stand a little improving on. John

I think it depends on where you are fishing and what size fish you are likely to catch. When I'm into schoolies, I almost always tie a dropper loop about 18" above the plug. Many times fish of this size will fight for the chance to get to these lures and double headers are not uncommon.

Then again, I'm usually wading in the back and using a scaled down rod (7 to 7 1/2 feet).

I understand the argument that a leader could fail if a larger fish gets hung up in the plug. However, it's always been my assumption that a teaser mimics a small bait fish being chased by a larger bait fish. I feel having the teaser tied closer (18")to the plug gives a fish a narrower perspective to the relationship between plug and teaser. It's also much easier to cast -especially when the w#%d is honking.

    Just my two cents...

Ilike the dropper because you donthave to deal with the teaser going oveer the main line.

I see guy?s fishing with a short leader and teasers far to close all the time and feel this only causes problems. I like to set up the teaser rig so the teaser will run around 4? in front of the plug when fishing it give or take a little. The two most important reasons are 1. You want to give the fish enough room to eat your teaser with out bumping your plug and possibly getting spooked 2. You give the illusion or the plug chasing the teaser and it is far enough away from the plug so it doesn?t tangle. Your leader should be as long as the fish you are after so that you are protecting your running line from abrasion.

I'm one that keeps the teaser closer to the plug, but I see your point Vince. Do you have problems with the teaser line twisting around the line tied to the plug? That was always my concern. That looks like a Baystalker Original Plug in those pics. Thanks for the helpful info.
