    Question

I'm still on my quest for a bigger boat. Found a Searay that seems to be priced right but I'm not very familiar with that boat. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have a 1996 24' Sea Ray Laguna CC. I bought it from my friend. Another friend of mine had one and still wishes he did. And my buddy's uncle has one. What do you want to know?

I am pretty sure that Adam Bomb used to run his charter business on a 24 ft Sea Ray Laguna. Hopefully he will see this post and chime in, or you could get his e-mail and send him a note.

I own an 18' Laguna cc. They made the 18, 21, and 24. SeaRay had a deal with Mercury where they came through with underpowered Mercs. I still have my original '94 Merc 115 and the boat is slow ; however, it is a heavy boat. I can get 29mph on gps when I'm trimmed. As far as the ride; it's a bit wet, but not too bad. With it's weight, it's got some beef in small chop. The finish is good considering my boat is 13 yo and most things on it have held-up. These are middle of the road boats with good resale. As finally said, Adam Bomb ran the 24' for several years fishing some pretty tough terrain. Adam may have some more insight into these crafts. Good Luck.

The boat I bought is the 1990 24 ft model with twin mercs 135s counter rotating. I hope I did the right thing.

Adam had a single 225. I have twin Merc 150's. I think the boat is very is dry. Of course in the strong wind, any boat will get wet. The Laguna series was made with the Sea Ray yachts, so it is built very solid. It was way ahead of its time. Does it ride like a Contender or Regulator, no, but it is not anywhere near the cost of one either. Lots of storage, especially in the forward center hatch. If I was to repower, I would put twin 200 Opti's on it. Then the boat would scream. My boat moves very good, but if you can go faster, why not. My buddy use to take it to the Hudson Canyon. Of course he would pick his days, but he did it. I think for the money, it is a great boat and as stated above, they do hold their value. Good Luck with it.

The 21' is still available. It's got a 5 year old 225 Merc Optimax on the back. She will absolutely fly! Very solid boats

We ran a 24' for several years before upgrading to our current boat. The 24 Laguna was very dry, stable, and rode real nice for a boat its size. We had the twin 135hp Mercs on her, and repowered for better fuel economy with a single 250HP Yamaha OX66. She ran really nicely with this motor, with a 4000rpm cruise of around 28 knots. She was built real well, and fished good for us on a daily basis for several years. Good luck and have fun!

Thanks all... sounds like I got a winner. It is tough buying long distance but it is possible to make out well if you look long and hard enough. Picking her up this week, can't wait!
