Offshore would involve a boat? No?

Flotsam he is fishing 7mi back bay. This was clearly stated in his report. I'm wondering how some of ya's managed to graduate, wasn't reading comprehension included with the coursework?

Exactly what does your catching fish in a kayak have to do with the guys here on the surf forum, going out, fishing their aZZes off, and not catching these fish?

Curious how many 20+lb bass you landed from the surf this year?

It's nice to know you got some bass from the yak,,,,,the yak fishing has been good lately...but that really doesn't mean that the guys in the surf are going to catch those bass, nor do they have the same shot at them that you do.....

(Except for today), when there was a sustained surf bite, snag and drop for more than 3 hours....this is one of the few times this spring that guys in that stretch of beach had a chance to get fish that lasted more than 3 hours.....,

No offense, but I wonder why you guys need to hype it up when most guys are fishing their hearts out, and except for a few out of character blitzes, (and the CM and OC bites that were pretty steady,) a lot of surf guys haven't done well this Spring.....

That's precisely the point, Huck Finn, and for making it. I don't see why someone would have an issue with surf skunk reporting what he is seeing in his area....why jump on the guy for this, as he is reporting honestly what he is seeing....

Sorry for the thread hijack, but some of ya's are not able to make the distinction between a surf bite and a boat bite....and if the fish are 200 yards and more out,.....and (for the most part) not coming in,,,,then I feel it's deceiving to post in the surf reports that a guy has a legitimate chance of getting these fish....or that he is somehow not versed in reality when he observes that in his area, the big bass have left......

Thanks for reading, apologies for the hijack,, and fish hard as the bigger bass won't be here for too much longer......as most of them are way past us and in the LI to MA waters.....

And IMO, there is nothing wrong with stating that....thanks for your report surf skunk ...

    Carry on gents.....

oh god..here we go again. give it a break dude. no one said anything about him getting the skunk, people have been saying they are GONE...when indeed they aren't..thats the only point i was trying to make. they are still here, and in FORCE. i never said they were on the beach, but hell..if they are 300 yards off, they can come in at any time.....won't know unless your there. if everyone thinks they are GONE...then they will stop trying........simply saying they are still around.

Again, Farrell, no offense, but if you feel they are here "in force" it says a lot about you, your skill set, and the lack of seasoning you have.

There have been millions of bunker, miles of food, for weeks, and limited action, culminating with a heating up in the last 2 weeks.....this season pales in comparison to previous ones....How many reports have been posted up here....
"there were miles of bunker but nothing on them..."

IMO this seriously impedes your ability to understand....that the numbers you think are "epic" are a mere shadow of what they were 8 years ago.

It's not your fault that you have been fishing for less than 10 years, I realize you are just learning.

But to come on and make a statement like the one highlighted above......shows me that you really don't want to learn beyond what you have seen in the short time you have been fishing, and that's a shame.
The fishing now is not even close to what it used to be. For you not to have that perspective is understandable for someone your age,....

for you not to want to learn before you engage your mouth in hype, is truly sad.

No offense intended, of course, but I thought there was a little more potential for you....as guys your age are the future of fishing for us,,,,and if you continue to fish with blinders on, I feel sorry for the other young kids who are just learning....

Apologies for the hijack folks.....catch em up......

haha i dont even know if i should justify that with an answer, but i suppose i will. you obviously know nothing about me, how long i have been fishing, and deffinatley don't know what is caught/seen/heard at every beach, at every second. and even funnier if you think i post HALF of the times i go fishing. did i say this was the best year ever? no...did i say they have been in force all spring? no...but when a buddy gets 20+ fish in a few hours, all over 20 pounds, some almost 40 pounds....i think that is in force.

    have a good night buddy.

to everyone else...fish are still around, as it ALWAYS is in the surf..just gotta be in the right place at the right time. night chunking with some fresh bunker will probably get you some fish...

i apologize to everyone else also that has to even read this garbage, and for not being a one trick pony..i am a fisherman...not just a surf fisherman.

i had more fun catching blues to 3lb w the lady this evening than any size bass from boat/surf/yak/submarine w/e. this is why im just about had enough with surf fishing altogether! its not an argument. im just there to relax. i can argue at work. i can get frustrated at work. when im fishing. its the farthest thing from it. too many know it alls. too many sharpies. too many egos. im with farrell. there are bass around. they may not be exactly where you want them to be but they werent where i wanted them to be 3 months ago so i guess we're all even!

I go out to have anniversary dinner with my sweetheart and look what happens in here. Fished last night in a small window and hooked into a really nice fisb on an sp. Two long runs and i finally have her just behind the break and she decides to surf onto the beach. Fish turned and the hook popped on impact. My personal thought is if guys were not goi.g to bed early to get up at 430am to search for bunker more fish would be caught. On that note i finally bought a kayak (excited abut fluking and freshwater fishing) so i am going to bed and waking up at 430am.

I certainly would not agree with the statement that the bass are gone, and since some spots had the best bassin they have seen in 10 years, I guess I can't agree with the statement this years was a bad year. What everyone must keep in mind is that while it may have been a bad year on a certain stretch of beach that doesn't mean its been bad along the whole coast of NJ. It just means some guys had a bad run.

As for me, early evening on Thursday I fished the AC inlet with my son and got into blitzing 20" blues for over an hour. I had my braid bit off three times while hooked up with other fish. After the lighting storm chased us from the jetty, I headed a little further north and ended up landing the 34" bass that had just popped its self off of Rebel's SP minnow. That bass still wanted the SP and took mine. That was the only bass for me as I fished just the last hour or so of incoming, then headed home. I also scored a really sweet black teaser - thx John its looks even nicer in the daylight.

I'll give it a try with my fish finder rigs tomorrow night. The weather should be awesome. Now I just have to find some fresh bunker without driving 20 miles.
