Do gates with electronic locks plus a guard and then the guard doesn't have to work as hard.
I like the idea of both a gate on each dock and a guard. I'd be willing to chip in an extra $100 just for the piece of mind.

I am wondering what type of jail time these guys are going to get hit with, if anyone hears post it, unless it's not severe, then treat it like a fishing report and exaggerate, if they get 6 mons, make it 6 yrs. Continue to report to your marina and police anymore thefts, and keep asking for more security at our place.
I have change the topic has anyone confirmed that Harry is makeing BZL a shark Free Marina? as part of the push Guy Harvey and some other groups are trying to get marinas to commit to. these people made a liveing off of fishing where people kept fish for many years, seems very hypocritical tobe pushing for this, We're already hit with extremely strict limits by both state and federal fishery managements. I know we all have been guilty at some time of keeping a few more fish then we should have, but I know most of the guys that are in our fishing circles and many barn members have greatly reduced how many sharks specifcially they kill each season. I'll be damned if I'm going to have our marina owner tell me what I can and can't bring into the docks, as long as we're following legal limits. I will not go sneaking around to another place to drop a mako or thresher off either, I tried to find Harry Friday but didn't but will this week, if this is true we need to express how we feel if he is planning todo this. I think he'll loose boats as well as alot of fuel sales if he joins this group.

I wonder if Harry Registered the Marina or someone else did. I can't see Harry using the internet.

Looks like anyone could go on there and register anyone

    Default Cameras at BZL

In regard to to the cameras, I work in one the Ac casinos who do have state of the art camera systems, there are plenty of times when the cameras miss things and thats with 300 plus cameras on a 70,000 sguare foot floor, how many cameras do you think it would take to cover the marina? The camera is only going to stop the honest theif, don't temp them remove your stuff that isn't bolted down.

I agree that cameras can't catch it all. But I've never heard of nor met an "honest thief"...ain't no such animal, if you are a thief then you are not honest, simple as that.

The best way to stop a thief is to put things out of their reach. You do that by removing the item or placing an insurmountable barrier between it and the thief. There are various sorts of insurmountable barriers.

I agree about the Shark Free sign up, I can't see Harry even considering signing up for anything that could cost him money in lost slips and fuel. and will confirm personally,. I think someone just went ahead and signed him up, and will talk with him this week.
    An Honest thief???
I think cameras and gates to deter a certain amount of thefts, a Security guard would be the best way togo, but as stated removeing the items is the only 100% way to stop them. It's a PIA todo, we have over 14 High end combo's for Offshore we now transport for each offshore trip, but to much money tied up in them to risk looseing. even with Insurance that would be a major nightmare to have togo thru to replace the gear, you'd loose on that money wise, as well as time.
We can help by not tempting them, and also makeing others aware of the threat, as well as patrolling the marina and looking for suspicious actions. If you do loose anything definetly report it as well.
