Went out and fished off the Fort and on the outgoing drifted down to Mid- Bay. The take was one keeper with approx 12 to 14 throwbacks. 3 of the throwbacks were between 17 and less than 17.5 inches. After we did our "Drift" thing, took the boat and anchored up in shallow water. For approx 1 hour we pulled continous Blues at approx 1.5 to 2.5lbs with 1 keeper weakfish mixed in the pack. Of course the Brown Sharks and small sand sharks mixed into the fray, but the Bluefish were continual on the incoming tide. If we would have spent the day anchored up we would have limited out on Bluefish. The Bait was strips of Spot and baby Bunker.
The bottom off the Fort in some ares is covered in grass and makes the drift unproductive with the constant weed on the rig or on the jig. It seems that once you fished off of E.P and the rest of the way down the Bay you do not get that constant weed on your rig.Almost all of the fish were caught approx 2 miles west of One and on the drift as you went down the Bay.I am going to steer clear of fishing off ther Fort.Way to much grass on the Bottom.![]()
