Thats fine, just trying to help.not trying to be a jerk. We did the bury method today in cool wet sand reaalll early. Went to car for cooler when it got warm out when sun came out from behind the clouds. Had close to 40 today, 2 keepers...but that was between 2 of us haha

Yeah i know where you're comming from. just trying to help out. i could use all the help i can get when it comes to keeping them fresh. i was out for about 6 hours, and by the time i was done fishing the skin was like leather. somehow the meat was still fine. i need to figure something out so that i don't waste fish. maybe a few runs back to my car during the day is the best bet.

A small, quality fishbag with 4-5 frozen water bottles in it will keep a bunch of keeper fluke cool for hours. I started fishing at 6am today, caught a keeper around 9, then fished until noon and my fish was still cold to the touch. It is a smaller bag but I hop around and cover a lot of ground carrying it. It does a great job keeping the fish cold and it is lightweight.

go to a dive shop and get one of these they come in many different sizes, it's what i use when i'm wading for Fluke, Stripers and just about every fish that i plan to keep for the table including panfish from freshwater, most times the fish are still alive when they reach the cooler.

When I surf fish on real hot days, I bury my cooler to the lid. keeps the ice from melting so fast and the total internal temp of the cooler low. Works good for me.

You are on your game with everything except keeping that fish fresh bro!

On the cheap you can get a few insulated bags from the grocery store and a 5# bag of ice.....

A backpack cooler pays for itself right quick. I've got a california cooler or something like that....might get small if you keep slamming 27s

A nice kayak fish bag with straps that can fit over your shoulder could be nice and easy to walk with...

There are only two things I can say with certainty here:

    1. You're killing it and that is awesome

    2. If the fluke's skin looks like leather, it may still taste okay but you're not getting that "ocean fresh" fish you really could have

    Good luck dude

I use a 32"x 17" bag made by Watertrail Paddling Gear. I think they are a subsidiary of Native Kayaks. The bag is lightweight and it actually keeps a cold temperature if you put 5-6 freeze packs or frozen water bottles in it. It is really for my kayak but it works great for panfish/fluke/ fish to 30" from the surf or jetty. It has three handles on it and lots of plastic d rings that you could use to attach backstraps. You could easily fit a two man limit of fluke in this, provided they are all not 8lb fish. It set me back about $75 at a kayak store in West Creek. So far it is well worth the money.
