    Default oc 8/6

530pm til 8pm.. Same rockpile as last time, using a bucktail tipped with white gulp mullet, and a smaller gulp mullet as a teaser, i found a school of weakies in the 12 to 16 inch range feeding on top a bit, most came on the teaser, this lasted about 35 mins until a set of great parents brought their 6 kids swimming 5 feet from the rocks in neck deep water as the sun set. Since there are laws against hooking people in the neck, i switched to the other (less productive side) of the rocks and caught two spot and a southern king. All in all not a bad night, back at it in the morning...its nice to see the weakies back!

Brown sharkin has gotten worse over the past 2 weeks, at least for me and my friends. Big ones moved out, everything we're catching is in the 30-50lb range.

Lol Yeah people can get annoying, but its summertime so i expect it to a degree. Few more weeks and the beaches will be empty again! And as far as the weakies feeding goes, it wasnt an all out frenzy, but they were certainly picking away at some small baitfish, just had to pay attention to the water and cast to the splashes. I had more today in the bay/inlet area...i posted that report in the homeport.

Pearl gulp was good to me today. 20+ fluke with two keeper at 19/20" and a bunch more just-short fish. Lost some bigger fish as well.

Default Wed Night - Sea Isle / Strathmere

Caught small kings and nice spots on a sibiki rig, sometimes pulling in 4 at a time. Caught some dog fish and one blue fish.

    Nice night to fish....

Chaffing where no man wants to be chaffed though....OUCH

Fished Strathmere area for about 4 hrs.. I think i made a mistake and bought mackerel strips out of the fin attics bait machine..The second i looked at it i said how old is this... Plus Only 3 strips and i swear a seagull flew down and stole half a piece.. I barely picked up any minnows with it in my minnow catcher.. I did get two hits off of it thats it.. It might of been nice morning out but it was a slow..No top water action on any lures either..

Fished LBI south jetties this past week. Like everyone else, caught many spot and kings in the surf using fishbites and the occasional sand crab or calico that got washed up. Kids enjoyed that. Also used 1/2 ounce white bucktails with deceiver flies as teasers for multiple fluke in the wash in the morning (only 1 keeper) -- most at high tide and beginning of the outgoing. No love on anything with gulp (go figure). Tossed a kastmaster in the middle of the day yesterday just to see what was up and, on the second cast, beached a small cow nose ray -- was not expecting that, but a decent fight taking lots of drag. Plugged and threw metals before sunup everyday only catching the sunrise and snappers when the birds came in close chasing what appeared to be rainfish / tiny spearing.

PS -- First post here. Thanks for all the helpful info as I've just started to seriously fish from the surf beginning this past April. Hopefully looking forward to the Fall.

Tarpon fishing has picked up in my area, averaging 3 fish a day from the beach ranging from 60-90lbs on bucktails & soft plastics.

Hit south end of OC NJ 8/9 and 8/10 at night. was the middle of outgoing both times. Steady South/ Southeast winds made for bigger waves.

A nice pick of kings and Spots, no bluefish around like the week before, sorry late post but the blackberry doesnt seem to post well.

The kids did the Ocean CityFishing club tourny on Sat. My daughter had most fish, she got a trophy , ribbon and a nice new fishing rod. She had some nice kingfish, spot, and a couple of sharks.
