Running a ray marine e120 great machine.
The dsm is very sensitive and goes down a lot after one or two hours. I've heard it's a voltage issue. Has anyone else experienced this and any tips for a fix?

I have found the Raymarine tech support can be very helpful both online and by phone. They also have a repair program which works well. If the DSM unit is the problem send it out to them and they will repair or replace with a repaired unit at a fixed cost. Give them a call with some specific's and they will give you troubleshooting help. good luck
You have to first check for voltage issues. They are very sensitive to voltage drops under 12 volts youneed to check your connections very closely and make sure there are no voltage drops from your battery to your main panel. Make sure your battery is good aswell because after 2 hours youmay have a bad cell. Hope this helps.l
I am having the same issue....forever......:some days no problem......and most days I would like to rip it out of the boat.....that dsm lost beep will make u insane especially overnight when it happens evern fifteen seconds.....rainy pm me when u get a chance I would love to find a solution.
On my boat I had to isolate all my raymarine products to one seperate fuse bank and have also had to make my own wiring harness up directly from the batterys.I use a small toggle swich in my center console to shut my DSM off when not in use.I really keep close tabs on the system and have to periodically clean my fuses and terminal connections once or twice a year.In my opinion it is one of if not the best fishfinders out there but one of the worst if you have problems with it.PS.capt.Steve Bent was a rep for them and he really helped me out when I needed him.

I have struggled with those issues as well - dsm and e120 classic system.
The issues seem to be resolved this year. The system was installed with a dedicated electronics battery, and a battery isolator to allow charging from engine or charger, and the isolator turned out to be the issue.
I installed a different type of isolator ( the old one was having problems after several hours of use - maybe overheating) , with a connection to starter switch that disconnects electronics battery from engine system when starting. Since I installed the new isolator, the problems went away.

Besides being voltage sensitive they are also temperature sensitive. I had to relocate my DSM and wired in a on/off switch to deenergize when not in use.
I had the same issue until the latest firmware upgrade was installed which fixed an intermittent DSM failure. Works great now.
We have the C80 in our boat and same for us. It can drive you nuts. We were told that the latest firmware upgrade was supposed to fix it but in our case it has not. Funny thing is it wont do it for the first few hours of a trip then it starts up.

I fixed a similar problem on a friend's boat. He kept getting an error message saying "Data source not found". I disconnected all the cables from the DSM to the display and sprayed them with electric contact spray then put a little vaseline on the pin sockets. Haven't had a problem since. Also, make sure the unit is off before disconnecting any wiring.

Always remember that you're unique. Just like
everyone else.
You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.
I had my electronics salesman come out get a new dsm from raymarine, installed new cabbles, add ed a switch on my dash just for the dsm unit and wired it direct to the power source. ran all day without a glitch. keeping my fingers crossed....
