    Default fly tying

There is a fly tying group that meets once a month down here in Melborne at a bait & tackle shop with fly equipment & supplies. Usually 15 - 20 people with all materials supplied. Fly of the month.

A few of the members with ODC leading, demo, & tying. Recognize the young lad? (Trout pic in reports section a month or 2 back.)

We do the class at 1pm on the last Saturday of the month at Harry Goode's outdoor shop in Melbourne, a family owned business that has served the community since 1943. The class is always free of charge, and there's also a 2pm class for the grommets.

Thanks for adding more pics Bill. I'll do better next time. Also will take pic of your fly.

Here's the fly we tied last month. Playing with CCG and slinky fiber.

Thanks for sharing and great pics!! Always nice to see kids at the "bench" working on their first fly or working at getting better at fly tying.

I've helped at a few demos for kids in PA and NY and it sure is rewarding to say the least. Their expressions and some of their questions are priceless!!

Their enthusiasm is infectious, and watching them improve on the vise and on the water is just the coolest thing ever. We have an 11yr old in the group that can put a 1/0 deer hair bug on a dinner plate at 60'. The sport desperately needs new blood, and we have a small army of enthusiastic grommets in my area that are nothing short of inspirational.

Thanks Mike. you're right on the location, but no book store. There's an ice cream shop across the street and a dive shop behind us.

Great looking flies. Always fun to tie flies with a group as there is alway something to learn or try.
